Mission of Burma didn't have wax until '82? Huh.

The Gang of Four demos that's been trickling out from the blog have been pretty good, too.

Academy Fight Song came out in 1980

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)

I know a guy who says that counts as 1970s, but he's crazy. Anyway.

I don't have the heart to vote for the Stooges, but I listened to The Weirdness yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

J0hn D. OTM anyway

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 17:02 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah I think The Weirdness is OK. Not much more than, but it's not terrible.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 17:02 (seventeen years ago)

Our research team forgot Mission Of Burma. They should be on there. Remind me to fine them.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 17:02 (seventeen years ago)

New York Dolls gets my vote.

Wire. I've had high hopes that Rocket From the Tombs would put out new material, but nothing's yet happened.

Also, there seems to be love out there for recent Buzzcocks, but I haven't tried it on.

Ha! I'd already forgotten that Big Star album even existed.

Anyway, out of these I'd go with Bauhaus.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 20:19 (seventeen years ago)

Also, recent Undertones (sans Feargal) albums have been pretty tight.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)

ditto on forgetting that the big star album even came out. when i heard it, something about it seemed so half-assed that it was close to genius, but then ... no.

tylerw, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think i've heard any of these other ones. i did hear that rocket from the tombs CD taht came out a few years back. it was OK!

tylerw, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Big Star reuniting would have been great, but it can be a bit difficult as the guy who did all those wonderful backing vocals on their superb debut album is no more...

Geir Hongro, Monday, 21 July 2008 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

"Send" is the only I've heard. Didn't like it.

Tom D., Monday, 21 July 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)

It's all in the art of STOPPINGAH!!!

Mark G, Monday, 21 July 2008 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

Other: None.
