Obviously (Barring so much of the indie rock and too cool for school junk I've since thrown away).

I don't think I ever learned the actual identities of the songs or bands featured in skate videos I watched (circa 87-91 or thereabouts, 5th-9th grade for me) b/c most of the videos I got my hands on were third-hand VHS dubs with the end credits lopped off. I did once place the microphone to a shitty cassette up to my television to "record" the songs I liked from an H-Street video.
Bands I learned about from reading Thrasher magazine & ordering tapes from Sessions catalogs: Misfits, Agent Orange, JFA (yes, especially them), Gang Green, The Faction (Steve Caballero's band!), DRI, Fishbone, probably loads of others that I can't think of
Classic moments from the movie Thrashin' (at the time, it was the only skate-related film available at the local rental place and, as such, was subject to repeat viewings): the performace by pre-fame Red Hot Chili Peppers in full-on bizarro heroin mode; Parking garage chase scene to "Wild in the Streets" by The Circle jerks; Ramp locals new half-pipe deflowering to "That's Good" by Devo.
More random nostalgia: Skatemaster Tate & his snowboard on wheels; the "Skate to Create/Skate to Destroy" lounge singer from The Search for Animal Chin

"shitty cassette" = "shitty cassette recorder"
First heard Stereolab on a skate video. Also, the track "T Plays it Cool" from Marvin Gaye's TROUBLE MAN soundtrack.

I never knew the identites of a lots of the songs either, though I remember the Devo / RHCP parts in Thrashin pretty well. I heard the Descendents for the first time in some Vision video. But most of the Bones Brigade videos didn't have super awesome stuff in them.
The Santa Cruz videos though were classic for SST stuff:

This may have been my favorite / most influential video segment ever. Streets of Fire also introduced me to Sonic Youth.

All I can think of is Del (well I did see some segment on Del circa his 1st album on some Saturday morning early teens show. anyone remember that??) and Souls of Mischief, from 411VM I think? There must be more. Pretty much the only reason I still have a vcr is to pop in some skate videos every year or so.

these were a huge source of music discovery for me in my early-mid teens. I first heard sonic youth and the misfits on toy machine's welcome to hell.
i remember a bunch from 411 too. Souls of mischief yeah. I think mob deep, dinosaur jr "not you again"

Man, good question. Can't think of anything offhand but Chomp On This has a great soundtrack.

this isn't what you had in mind, i know, but i became aware of the cramps cuz of the poster on the bedroom wall of christian slater in gleaming the cube (watched on video!). it frightened/intrigued me.

the "Skate to Create/Skate to Destroy" lounge singer from The Search for Animal Chin
Wasn't he all like "Skate and Destroy/It doesn't matter if you're a girl or a boy"?
I had first heard about fIREHOSE through an RHCP song, but I first heard Brave Captain on a skate video, which sent me on an immediate quest for the album.

Total classic. I would say I listened to music primarily via skate videos growing up.

Pretty much every SST band, and yes, kingkongvsgodzilla, that's where I first heard "Brave Captain," too! Was it Savannah Slamma 3??
Skate videos ruled

I started watching skate videos at the infamous period of the early 00's where Modest Mouse (and to a lesser extent built to spill) was in every other skate video. I still defend (albeit without listening to anything they've done in the last 4+ years) Modest Mouse to this day.
And yeah, Del was like my introduction to non-mainstream hip hop because of his (rather quite frequent) place in skate videos.
