List thread? Maybe.

Because Al Dimiola/John McLaughlin - "Short Tales of the Black Forest" came up on shuffle, and it's not so much a song as an ordeal. I generally like McLaughlin, too. Dimiola, not so much.

Which isn't at all to say it's not enjoyable showing off, well, most other people at the concerts generally aren't enjoyable.

Non-tonal music in general, provided the artist does indeed have some musical skills and doesn't only use modernist ideas as an excuse for his own lack of talent.

What are Geir's views on "Revolution #9"?

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 08:44 (seventeen years ago)

I got one of those "All the beatles albums" CDr things in a jumble sale once.

Things like "Yellow Submarine" would have tracks missing where they were already on a different album (Revolver, for instance)

Rev 9 was conspicuously absent from the White album, for no apparent reason.

Mark G, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 08:50 (seventeen years ago)

It's like when Brian Matthew does the Beatles song catalogue in alphabetical order on Sounds Of The Sixties, plays "Revolution" (usually the single B-side version) and says that Rev 1 and Rev 9 were just "different versions" and that gets him out of a tight demographic spot.
