i saw this band called *amazing baby* this weekend and i think they could be huge in england...

cuz the singer looks like damon albarn and sings like roddy frame and the band sounds like oasis + spiritualized + britpop + ride + madchester and people in england love that kind of thing.

they did have a slightly incongruous looking shirtless lead guitarist who looked like devendra a little bit and who played hard rock solos, but i think they like that kind of thing in england too.

their songs were messy and all over the place live and i swear there was a happy mondays vibe going on which makes me shiver a little, but that's what i said when i saw the strokes before they hit it big too.

and they had two female backup singers dressed like chloe sevigny on her way to studio 54.

and they are from brooklyn.

they kinda looked like a band that someone rich would put together in the hopes of becoming big in england.

have you heard Stylofone (the band Amazing Baby used to be)? I love their debut EP - it's such an awesome ripoff of Thin Lizzy.

nope. never heard them. the stuff on the amazing baby myspace from their ep actually sounds better than the band live. i did appreciate the hard rock guitar solos though. and i am a roddy frame fan.

the singer apparently grew up here. they played at the music festival that my maria did for her radio station. a fundraiser. it was fun. willy mason had some undie rapper come and play and i wasn't that into him, but everyone else sounded really great.
