OK, fine. Classic.

I'd like to hear why you think it's a classic, Alfred. I think it's a totally decent song, one that I'd be happy to hear on a jukebox or on shuffle, or do at karaoke, but nothing more. I guess I like the chug of the song/riff, which sounds to my untrained ears like a smoothed-out blues riff (think "Waitin' For The Bus"). Of singles off 5150, I'll take "Love Walks In" over this one, though.

there's a good half dozen Van Hagar singles I fucks with real heavy, this is one of them.

although for some reason my primary memory of it is some concert footage from the Gary Cherone era when he was hamming it up hardcore on the bridge.

Definitely one of the better songs from the Hagar era, not a classic though.

I love the synths on this.

From Hagar Era: Finish What You Started > Dreams > Why Can't This Be Love.

Yeah, I was stuck with the ILM nomenclature. It's a song that qualifies as Better Than You Remember. I like the tension b/w Hagar's restraint (he sounds like someone's pulling on his reins) and the vulgarity of the keyboard farts. I know you don't look to Hagar for restraint, but if I had to pick a vehicle for him this doesn't get much better.

at the time i can remember everyone sorta talking themselves into 5150 and that everyone dropped the ruse when 'black and blue' came out as now, finally, eddie was back and rocking so so hard (this turned out to be a lie also really). roth however we genuinely deeply enjoyed even though none of us could pretend it wasn't crap (man that 'yankee rose' video really is something though - from the 'let's offend everybody' sorta mad magazine intro to dave strutting around like some cross between a member of the rockafire explosion and an old french whore). if i'm listening to anything off 5150 i'd probably listen to 'dreams' since it's the most 'god i wish we could pull off foreigner's adult contemporary move', 'feel so good' from ou812 for similar reasons. even under duress i'm not listening to anything after that, though remember the garfield reenactments thing? from january? the one of those w/ 'right now' was def one of my faves.

Just Like Paradise is better than Yankee Rose. there's at least one later hair band (LA Guns?) song that totally rips if off that's better as well.

"Just Like Paradise" sounds like it could've been done by Huey Lewis.
