Guy who sits right behind reps for late 80's early 90's rn'b, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Keith Sweat. Also, listens to alot of shitty contemporary rap Soulja Boy, Jeezy, and loves pop music like Britney and Justin. He'll surprise me every once in a while with some sweet 70's soul like Donny Hathaway or some Al Green, overall we are chill with each other's taste. There is enough stuff that we both mutually like that I can bridge the gap over the stuff we don't like.
Girl who sits to the left of me just listens to country, all day all the time, mostly newish stuff. I tried to show her some Hank Williams and Patsy Cline and she wasn't having it, Faith Hill for dayzzz.
Guy who sits to the right of me is from the Mid-West and his taste is rooted firmly in the tradition of unpretentious ass kicking rock and roll, no wimpy indie shit allowed. AC/DC, Metallica, Skynrd, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, also he is a chronic alcoholic, good times.
The best is our newest employee who just arrived from Ethiopia. Dude's family comes from the same area as Mulatu Astatke's and is considered a hero there. Anyways, he listens to lots of reggae, latin, african music (obviously), 60's classic rock, hip- hop and surprisingly lots of electronic music.
So what are your co-workers listening to ?

Keep overhearing conversations of much younger coworkers about bands they are excited about seeing, or bands they've seen. This is the first time I've heard of One Republic. Lots of mentions of country acts that might be okay if I were more into it. Actually, these two are at least pretty eclectic: Rihanna, Jay-Z, Keith Urban, Maroon 5.

One of my coworkers thinks Down With Webster is a good band. Enough said.

I don't know much about my coworkers music tastes, but the woman in the cubicle next to mine has made disparaging remarks about Taylor Swift and drove up to Hershey Park a few weeks ago to see Dave Matthews.

Also, my boss turned 40 recently and was planning the music for his party. He said his original plan was top make a playlist of music from his birthyear, but looked into it and decided that nothing good came out in '73. I was going to start spinning off some recommendations, but then I remembered that his favorite artist add Amy Grant and I didn't really know where to take it from there.

There is an indie music station through Sirius that a co-worker listens to. It's worse about playing the same "hot" songs over and over for months than pop radio. Every time I half hear "Step" by Vampire Weekend I have to rush and turn up my own music so I don't go insane. I don't know how he can stand listening to the same Savages song 20 times a day. Or that Parquet Courts song. Or that Deerhunter song. Or that Daft Song featuring Panda Bear. Or "Step by Vampire Weekend. Or that Savages song. Or that Parquet Courts song. Or that Deerhunter song. Or that Daft Song featuring Panda Bear. Or "Step by Vampire Weekend. Or that Savages song. Or that Parquet Courts song. Or that Deerhunter song. Or that Daft Song featuring Panda Bear. Or "Step by Vampire Weekend. Or that Savages song.

I bet she's really good, but I've never heard anything by her and it likely wouldn't translate well into the records from 1973 that I think are awesome.

Everyone I work with seems to think the sun shines out of Beyonce's ass, apart from one gent who's into The Tubes and prog rock.

I used to have this co-worker who would listen to the same three or four songs over and over on some mix she made. the only songs I remember on it were "Wonderful Tonight" and Kenny Rogers "We've Got Tonight". not only did she play the music loud enough that I could hear it at my desk, she fucking sang along with it, with off-key bravado, so I'd be trying to listen in on a meeting and hear her bleating "WHY WON'T YOU STEEEEEHHHHHHHH". and she got ornery if people whined about how loud she sang.

I work in a large open lab with a bunch of girls in their 20s, and a couple of guys about the same age. The guy who sits right next to me listens to Pearl Jam and Type O Negative all fucking day. The other day, the girls were listening to old Backstreet Boys, N Sync, 98 Degrees and Spice Girls songs for about an hour straight.
