Listening now and the first track is kicking my ass big-style.

What do you think of the rest of it?

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 26 July 2008 18:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Obviously he enjoyed it so much it knocked him out literally. (Or he's writing a 100,000 word dissertation on how Oceansize or Youthmovies made the best UK Rock Music this year.)

I wonder if that 10 lp Box Set of all the Esoteric albums will ever come out.

This album is pretty awesome, if incredibly depressing to the point where I'm not sure how often I'll pull it out. But when I do pull it out, it's great.

Is it in your top albums of the year list?

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 17 October 2008 19:12 (sixteen years ago) link

This album is some genuine cosmic horror shit. Still haven't made it to disc 2.

1st track is so good sometimes I gotta play it again before i make it onto the rest of the album.

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 17 October 2008 20:13 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm afraid it's gonna suck me into the artwork.

Cthulthu is watching, BL!

2 months later and LJ still hasn't got to the rest of the cd? ;)

It's just so uh moresome

J3ff- Cthulu's watching is coming from inside my eyes.

For a second I thought HGM was accusing me of being an LJ sock puppet.

Anyway, isn't the pre-Subconcious Dissolution... stuff supposed to a lot different? What's it like? I'm imagining it as sounding like the Dead C as envisioned by a heavy metal Alejandro Jodorowsky, all drugged out lo-fi surreal wtf-ness. Worth tracking down?

"a heavy metal Alejandro Jodorowsky, all drugged out lo-fi surreal wtf-ness." If you can track that down, color me sold.

i liked the glasvegas album a lot the first time i heard it. it hasnt held up as well to repeat listens, though.

"silence" is pretty damn good too, it's probably the best opening track (albeit of side 2) called "silence" released this year

four weeks pass...

I've decided this is my album of the year. Still haven't got bored with it. Much better than the overrated Metallica album and it's a pity Esoteric will be ignored by Kerrang for that in end of year polls.

Scott did you ever get this? You would love it I'm sure. I even got Jeff into it!

I finally got a used copy of this from AQ and I must say I really like it. A lot more than anything else I've heard by them.

disco balls (rockapads), Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Awesome. Glad you like it. I really wish more people would check it out.

I like it a lot too - a couple of tracks are really monstrous.

one month passes...

In my heart of hearts I know I'll never truly get beyond the first track. "Circle" must be some kind of all-time high for this sort of music.

Quickening is a wonderful track too. The whole album is brilliant. Glad to see it made the Terrorizer list.

Somehow let this lot pass me by. 'Circle' has absolutely killed me today. What a band.

I would prefer not to. (Chinaski), Sunday, 29 December 2024 18:00 (five days ago) link
