When "Motownphilly" was getting a lot of airplay, I believed that A.B.C. and B.B.D. would be some sort of fusion between new jack swing and skate rock.

I knew someone was going to have my hide about this. I got all the noteworthy ones. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's going to be DRI, DOA, or GBH. Who'd I miss?

A.O.D.'s "A.O.D vs. Godzilla" is a pretty great punk metal track too, tho' not quite up there with "City Baby"

bendy, Friday, 1 August 2008 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

the F.U.s were good too. This is an endeavor as impossible as listing all the sixties garage bands that went by The ___s

Has anybody mentioned A3I (Any Three Initials) - a parody of all those bands -featuring Will Shatter from Flipper I think

Fer Ark, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

DRI - for me - for 'Dealing With it'

Do AOF count (Articles Of Faith)? They were actually quite good

Fer Ark, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

Does anyone here have the record that M.I.A. did with a song called "Murder In A Foreign Place"? I looked on slsk for that for a long time and never came up with anything.

Bimble, Friday, 1 August 2008 18:20 (seventeen years ago)

Hmm...looks like Alternative Tentacles reissued it on CD with a bunch of other stuff. Never mind.

Bimble, Friday, 1 August 2008 18:29 (seventeen years ago)

SNFU - shout for the mounties

Fer Ark, Friday, 1 August 2008 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

AG's. CH3. RF7. UXA. DIRT. KUKL. SYPH. And if you get into anarcho-crust 7"s, were there any bands without acronyms?

Michael Train, Friday, 1 August 2008 22:07 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Friday, 1 August 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

sleeve, Saturday, 2 August 2008 05:19 (seventeen years ago)

Aw, I missed this poll otherwise I would have voted for JFA.

Also, my first band (1984 Pomona punk) was called DUI

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 2 August 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

very short snappy poll that one.
raided the building- a quick ruck taking all comers - left town unscathed.

very apt.

Ah Channel Three ^- played their first two to death
JFA's instrumentals!!!

Fer Ark, Saturday, 2 August 2008 08:58 (seventeen years ago)

Oh won't anyone rep for T.S.O.L.?

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 2 August 2008 09:04 (seventeen years ago)

Ah, I see one did! :)

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 2 August 2008 09:06 (seventeen years ago)

No, but this is surely one of the most amazing punk bands ever:
M.I.A. "Lost Boys" CD

It's punk rock bliss right now.

eleven years pass...

Just saw “Something better Change “ film doc re Joey of DOA run for re-election to office on Burnaby Canada city council as a Green Party member @ AFI Silver w/ Q&A w/ director Scott Crawford & film participant musician Alec MacKaye;

Good and interesting doc (with some flaws ) that has lots of old school punk musicians offering nice words about Joey, some good old footage of D.O.A., his town's ex- Mayor bitterly criticizing him, his family talking about him, and Joey himself knocking on doors and being humble and honest about himself and trying to change things from both the outside and inside.
