In the song's chorus, Lohan unapologetically sings, "I'm just a little bossy. I like it how I like it when I like it and that's how it is."
Ne-Yo says the song is about strength. "It's basically about a woman being strong enough to get what she wants when she wants it," he tells: "In this case, 'Bossy' is a term that describes confidence and power."
Ne-Yo also stated: "I gotta admit, we were like ... Lindsay Lohan?'" Ne-Yo says with a laugh. "I mean, I've written for Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan? But I will say this; we gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job. I was so shocked I had to call her and apologize for what I was thinking because she did so good. I think the world is gonna be surprised."[7]

it's funny no matter how sometimes no matter how many professional producers and how much money go into a project, the vocals still sound like they were recorded in one of those booths at Six Flags.

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 August 2008 07:18 (seventeen years ago)
im not trying to be a dick btw
im sayin there's a pretty decent track record of producers jumping on shit like this (storch/rotem w/ paris and brooke hogan for instance) and it just turning out awful for everyone involved (except the lex i guess)
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 August 2008 07:21 (seventeen years ago)
that brooke hogan song was hot though

the grill was hilarity though
fwiw i liked "confessions of a broken heart"
im cool w/ max martin, bloodshy & avant etc doing tracks for dubiously famous white actresses but i dont think im crazy for wishing that some of this decade's best hip-hop/r&b producers don't waste their time on this shit
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 August 2008 07:32 (seventeen years ago)
or waste their tracks, if thats the case
I am liking this
― baaderonixx, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 07:48 (seventeen years ago)
i never heard the brooke hogan song, the paris album is still amazing and ur all mere haterz, i've loved lilo on a track-by-track basis ('speak' is probably my favourite) before but 'bossy' is blah and disappointing for everyone involved. am hopeful that there'll be some good stuff on the album though.

― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:20 (seventeen years ago)
i'm not gonna pretend she's a good singer or has half a brain cell or anything, but i kinda like it
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)
her voice was actually what stood out for me - i dont think she uses it well, but its more on the throaty side than the technical one & has decent range too, which i like
― deeznuts, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)
Hey why not, I kind of like this song.
There's a lot that's stupid about it, but if you find the cheesy lines in old-skool Lindsay sort of endearing ("Confessions of a Drama Queen" probably has the best ones, like "Bossy" most of them are in the bridge: "life is a work of art / ya gotta paint it colorful")...the cliches/clunkers in this one are like a nostalgia trip. Though there were funny (and much better) songs on her last one, especially "Who Loves You."
Biggest pet peeve is forcing "you gotta problem wit it" to rhyme with "if I want it I get it," just because "with" and "get" rhyme about as well as "wit" and "get" in the first place and it sounds terrible and forced. But I do think that the song's supposed to be dumb to some extent, in the same way that "Rumors" wasn't exactly an earnest plea for people to stop starting rumors about her, even if people made fun of it that way. ("Stop touching me without permission" is a really weird first line, but I think it's funny.) Pretty sure this one isn't actually going to be on her next album anyway.
― dabug, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)
oh whoops im confusing gay pop song threads
lohan SHOULD have a throaty voice, based how she talks, but apparently doesnt. this song just fucking sucks
― deeznuts, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)
I'm glad someone's around to clue me in about which songs are dumb and which ones are just supposed to be dumb in this really clever way.
― some dude, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)
Well I didn't say it was clever -- I'm just saying that I find some of its dumbness enjoyable.

The intro/verse are pretty epic -that bassline is never not awesome! But it sounds a little dated, I think... and the chorus could be better.

A friend of this guy passed this email exchange along to me. Be sure to download the songs at the link provided.
Don't just email random email addresses you found with Google
I have the same name as a famous R&B producer, so occasionally I get an email from people wishing the other guy. For a while I didn't do anything about them & just trashed them, but this year I decided to start replying. This is one of those.
NB: I've kept my name and some details out of this as I don't want the googlebots to stop emailing me (such changes are noted in blue). The rest of the info in these mails have been verified on Wikipedia as not being scoops or secrets of any kind.
------------------------------------------------------------------March 29, 2010 - 9:08 PMHi! My name isPR Person. I work for Lindsay Lohan's PR team. I wanted to make sure that you're theFirstname LastnamefromProducer Team? We need to discuss a couple of things with you, if you are. Get back to me soon, Thanks!PR Person
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 12:15 PMSure, what's going on?
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 1:58 PMWe need a full list of the songs Lindsay has done with you. We're about to shop all her new songs to labels since her deal with Universal fell though, so we wanna make sure we have everything she's recorded recently. Thanks!PR Person
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 7:14 PMHere you go: "Slap It", "Swimming (in a Pool)" "Out of Faces" "Innotcent" "Canberra"
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 18:42 PMAre you sure these are the tracks, 'cause I don't recall any of the titles? Only one I remember is "Other track by Producer Team". If they in fact were recorded, can you send mp3s of them all? We haven't received any of them. Lindsay's schedule is packed, otherwise, I would've asked her about them.
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 8:43 PMWell some of them were sketches really. I can elaborate when I'm back at the studio. Anyway, not to be rude or anything, but are you really who you say you are? I wouldn't like to send the mp3s to the wrong people.
------------------------------------------------------------------March 30, 2010 - 20:22 PMYes, I am 100% authentic. Lindsay's deal with Universal Motown fell through, although I wouldn't blame them, she's been tough to work with lately, but she is getting back on track, contrary to TMZ's bullshit. She's about to shoot a movie, and after that, music will be her number one priority. We need recent songs to shop to the other labels, so everything's ready when she finishes shooting the movie. So far, we've got a handful of songs to shop, but we need more. When will you be back in the studio?
I was going to my parents' for easter so I would be away from my own computer for a couple days.
------------------------------------------------------------------March 31, 2010 - 6:20 PMHiName! Oh that's great to hear! What's the movie? I'll be back after Easter, I have some commitments ot of town, so. But I'll get back to you for sure!
Sent from an Internet phone
------------------------------------------------------------------March 31, 2010 - 23:27 PMA movie called "The Other Side" Keep me notified! Best wishes!
I got drunk and shot her an easter greeting.
------------------------------------------------------------------April 1, 2010 - 2:57 AMHave a great Easter too!My name
------------------------------------------------------------------April 2, 2010 - 13:41 PMThank you! Let me know when you're back in the studio. Stay in touch, and take care!
I spent the next couple days eating and she got a little impatient.
------------------------------------------------------------------April 5, 2010 - 1:42 PMHey! Are you back in the office yet?
------------------------------------------------------------------April 6, 2010 - 2:08 PMHey Name! Yeah, I just got back! I've attached the songs here, sorry about the delay.
I had spent easter making the songs with my sister on my parents' iMac using Garage Band and some free loops. Also I have no idea what I'm doing. The vocals were provided by yours truly and my sister, both pitched up quite far.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/9vs8c0
------------------------------------------------------------------April 6, 2010 - 14:13 PMI meant the songs Lindsay actually recorded, not the ones she didn't get around to.
------------------------------------------------------------------April 6, 2010 - 14:26 PMOh yeah only Canberra and Slap It! had vocals recorded.
------------------------------------------------------------------April 6, 2010 - 20:17 PMWhat did you send me? These aren't really the Lindsay songs you've done, are they?
------------------------------------------------------------------Apr 7, 2010, at 10:33 AMHi Name Sorry, I haven't had the time to do the full vocal processing on the tracks yet. Hopefully they'll give an indication of the final product though. My name
------------------------------------------------------------------Apr 8, 2010, at 8:33 PMWhat are you playing at? That is not Lindsay's voice. These sound like something you could put together on GarageBand. What's going on?
------------------------------------------------------------------Apr 8, 2010, at 8:53 PMAlright you got me I'm just some dude, not the guy fromProducer Team
