KARAOKE VERSION OF SPACE ODDITY WHILE INSIDE HELICOPTER

When i was 12, I used to listen to a lot of shitty rock music (e.g. puddle of mudd, nickelback, led zeppelin). In addition to bad taste in music (peer pressure, i swear!), I was blessed w/ an unhealthy attraction to Adam Sandler. I was a fanatic, so fanatical that i owned ANYTHING w/ sandler's name on it, including this soundtrack.

There were a lot of things i liked on this album, but I especially fell in love with that Ben Kweller track. It was a lot different (and better) than puddle of mudd. So I bought Sha Sha and, using Amazon's "if you like this, you should check out: xxxxxxx" tool, i worked my way to sufjan and other pitchfork-endorsed shit. It sparked an important musical journey.

(don't worry, eventually i was rescued by pop music)

(also, i predict three votes. i'm not going to be one of them because i can't choose. note that david bowie has adam sandler tacked on as an intro.)

hang on, what age is Tape Store?

I know, right?, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

What is the script of the Adam Sandler intro?

kingkongvsgodzilla, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

it's just him singing the song in an enthusiastic but sorta obnoxious manner, i think?

I'm 18, and I forgot to mention that this album also started a major counting crows obsession, which jordan is alluding to, i think? I didn't even vote, but I would have gone for Falling. "Happy In the Meantime" deserved a vote, though!

re: S/D Sandler albums; I'll see what i can do...I remember the tracks, but I'm not sure i trust my taste circa age 12.
