The Human League "Being Boiled" vs. Pet Shop Boys "Being Boring"

Far from my favourite by either, but Pet Shop Boys has it here.

Well, since I'm apparently the only person on earth who much prefers the Travelogue version of "Being Boiled" to the single version which I'm sure you're referencing here, then definitely "Being Boring."

I'll agree with that assessment as well.

Ok good. Was beginning to slip into madness there for a bit. JBP OTM too. In fact, the drums are so meaty that they take on a near melodic role, yet again confounding top/bottom in that oh-so-Human League way. Even the hand claps are too crispy to remain in a mere beat-keeping role.

Really, I don't know why someone like Simon Reynolds finds this version lesser than the (slower) Fast version. It's so, well, Simon Reynoldsy.

actually: if a mediocre PSB single (i love the PSBs but i really don't rate this song) ends up whumping one of the most important three minutes of music ever made, i'll know i woke up in a parallel universe this morning.

I have more sentimental attachment to "Being Boiled" as a physical entity (having bought the Fast 7" at its time of release)... but than I have more emotional attachment to "Being Boring" as a song.

Voted "Boring".

i heard Being Boring roughly 11 years before Being Boiled. crazy woild.

I don't understand the comparison.

It's like asking us to decide between "Hound Dog" and Rufus Hound.

Or "Being Boiled" and "Boiled Beef and Carrots" (latter wd get my vote, btw)

I don't want you to fall into some parallel universe for no reason so I should inform/remind you that "Being Boring" is rated very highly amongst PSB fans (there are even some freakshows who love the bad album it came from).
