Bimble, please. Quality over quantity

We share a lot of tastes in common, and I get excited about seeing New Order and Chameleon threads revived, but then I get bummed when I see two dozen posts in half CAPS that all could have been consolidated in about three sentences in one post.

I'm not telling you what to do. Just askin' politely for you to calm down a bit when you get an urge to multi-post all over ILM, that's all.

I do this too (under a different set of circumstances but still, same issue), and I'm trying to curb myself as well.

OTOH, yer postpunk blog is awesome! I need to catch up on it.

So yeah, I'm an ILMholic, and admitting it is half the battle, etc.

Mackro Mackro, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)

You think that's bad? You should try the three 80's pop threads going right now!

Mark G, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:57 (seventeen years ago)

Alright, Brian. I got the message. I'll try. I can't promise anything, though. I'd be stupid to make promises.

I actually thought of you recently because when I saw the Bauhaus tribute band The Sky's Gone Out at Neumo's they played my fave Revolting Cocks song "Stainless Steel Providers" and I remember you liked them, too. I put the video on my blog. I really don't know where my blog is going. I don't even know where my life is going, either! Haha.

Thanks for your post, too, Mark G. I'm forever in your debt for sending me that Factory Records documentary. And the World Domination Enterprises stuff, too.

Also, Brian it's weird - I talked to the Reverend on the phone this weekend and I remember asking him to tell you "hi" from me.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Monday, 11 August 2008 21:51 (seventeen years ago)

wtf is with everyone talking on the phone

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

Awww Ramzi! Haha! We can talk on the phone too if you want. You're a nice guy.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Monday, 11 August 2008 21:56 (seventeen years ago)

you are the same person to me

akm, Monday, 11 August 2008 23:20 (seventeen years ago)

I hate calling peeps out in public, so this was just a kinda urgent friendly request, that's all. Thank you for the response. :)

Mackro Mackro, Monday, 11 August 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, well I'm fine with it, Brian. But you know my best friend in Philly (who posts on ILX btw, though his internet connection is fucked at the moment and I'm not going to tell you who he is) said "why didn't he just email you privately"? And that's something I didn't think of until he said it. Just another point of view, you know? Just a suggestion that you might have emailed me privately. But I don't hold it against you at all. I'm just happy to be in contact with you because I know there was a lot of trashing of you on the Radiohead thread. I'm delighted just to interact with you in any way at all, really. Let's salute each other and be respectful, eh?

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

also thanks akm, really that's too much, thanks.

"the same person"

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 00:31 (seventeen years ago)

You know, I had a short chat with Curtis recently and I apologized for my exuberance and he said "that exuberance is part of who you are".

I lost a lot of email addresses when I switched over to gmail two years ago. sorry B. :(

I know there was a lot of trashing of you on the Radiohead thread

That's kinda awesome. I don't think I want to know, and I'm a fan of the group actually, but I like the idea of this just for randommness.

Mackro Mackro, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 01:18 (seventeen years ago)

Yep, I'm seeing them in only 9 fucking days, Brian. Countdown. Best live band in the world. White River Amphitheater. You can come along if you want. I'm just driving my stupid ass car down to Auburn. Or maybe you wouldn't want to go. Or maybe you don't have tickets or care. That's fine, too.

Peace anyway, brother, let's not fight.

Also thanks Stephen, that was funny! :)

Mackro, with all respect, fuck off.

People who like the same kind of music I do don't seem to give a shit how much I post.

Thanks for making me a famous star, though.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 16:55 (sixteen years ago)

this is a really dickish idea for a public thread

iatee, Monday, 23 March 2009 16:59 (sixteen years ago)

xpost
I mean dude, I know there are some things we agree on musically, but really, what is your deal?

Why do you care so much about some dude on a message board who, in your opinion, posts too much? Like enough to start a whole thread about it?

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)

Also, thanks iatee. I'm going to play John Cale's Caribbean Sunset in your honour!

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

Bimble, I sent you two personal long polite emails when this came up, btw, per the point above, which was a good point. I sent one a while ago, and one very recently.

I never got a response from either yet. Hence the revive.

She Is Beyond Food In Weevil (Mackro Mackro), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:05 (sixteen years ago)

I guess I have never considered Bimble to be a guy that posts too much.

Reege & Leif (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:18 (sixteen years ago)

Mackro, you did not send me any emails. At all. I'm not even going to read the rest of your post. You are feeding bullshit. You sent me exactly zero emails. If you want to get a hold of me, you can do it through the ILX system or new_dawn_fades_61_@_yahoo._com without the underlines. We can take this off the board, but man, you did not send me any emails at all ever. I got nothing, Mackro. Zero. The last email I got from you was years ago...like 2005 and you mentioned some Factory DJ gig since Anthony Wilson died or something. Or John Peel, actually I think it was Peel. But since then I have received no emails from you.

iatee, really, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated you turning me on to John Cale's Caribbean Sunset album. Really, it meant the world to me. I guess I didn't say that on an appropriate thread, but wow dude, that changed my life, that album.

which means they'll chain me to the gallows.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:19 (sixteen years ago)

I mean, really, Mackro, you're going to be a school marm, and scold me? Ha! Hey, do what you gotta do, but I'm shocked.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

i should check out that cale

Reege & Leif (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

ian, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:24 (sixteen years ago)

iatee, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:24 (sixteen years ago)

bimble, never change

Roz, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

xpost to iatee

hahaha awwww that's sweet

But when I played the title track to Blue Mask at the gym last week, I knew my vote was cast in stone. I'll think about it, though. Thanks :)

Okay best song by John Cale MAGAZINES. Oh yeah. That is some badass post punk. BADASS.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:26 (sixteen years ago)

aww Roz :) that's what my bus driver said to me when i left elementary school

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:26 (sixteen years ago)

Roz, are you the one I came across on last FM?

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

Okay someone better recommend me a Mo Tucker album

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

I spent a weekend the other night.

Or, "Playin Possum" for the early stuff.

Mark G, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

This song by John Cale "Where There's A Will There's A Way" that saved my life. Don't you understand? It saved my life. Last week I played it 20 times.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

I met Moe.

She was nice.

Sterl was a bit, you know, but still...

Mark G, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:30 (sixteen years ago)

Strike what I said:

This one! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_in_Exile_After_Abdication

It's great, has all the x-velvets (except Cale) and has "Hey Mersh", a song about going out drinking with Sterl's sister.

Mark G, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

Mark G! I just came across the Sudden Sway album in my iTunes Spacemate, and I thought of you
God, I'm going to play that right now.

Britishers! God, I love my Britisher ilxors a whole lot.

Sleep Tundra (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 23 March 2009 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

i like mo's "life in exile..." despite some annoying guest appearances.
i also love her work on the Paris 1942 LP.

ian, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

ha, I posted a link to a d/l last week. Haven't got through it yet. (xpost re Spacemate)

Is it really that 'lo-fi', side 1?

Mark G, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

Mackro, you did not send me any emails. At all. I'm not even going to read the rest of your post. You are feeding bullshit. You sent me exactly zero emails. If you want to get a hold of me, you can do it through the ILX system

Which is exactly what I did, but whatever.

I'm going to ask the mods to delete this thread, or at least lock it.

I totally heart Bimble. Leave this thread for us to leave our declarations of love for Bimble on.

This thread was not a good idea. I'm sorry, Kate, but I am going to lock this thread. Don't feel discouraged from starting a pro-Bimble love thread, though; my intent is not to stifle positive discourse.
