there is no studio version of "Do You Feel Like We Do?" i found it interesting that they put "Live" after the next two songs but not after the Frampton song.

Marvin Gaye because it's strangely scary, though I may just be saying that cos of Boogie Nights.

Stevie Wonder second, because I always expect it to be cheesier than it actually is. Or maybe I just really enjoy it in spite of its cheesiness? Anyway, the horn line is killer.

The ones I was into at the time were Meco, Stevie Wonder, and Warren Zevon, and of those Stevie is my favorite.

First two songs are hella long, for this type of compilation!

Weakest of the poll selections for me, mostly because trash singles had been so thoroughly supplanted by arena rock and "classic" rock; I went with the Cantina Band theme.

A bit too one-sidedly disco dominated this one towards the end. But at least, those Chic organisation numbers are well worth voting for. Voted "I Want Your Love".

McFadden and Whitehead narrowly over Sister Sledge, though if Lost in Music was an option that would've been my pick. Sadly misses a lot of the punk/new wave stuff which charted in the UK and some major transatlantic hits too (Pop Musik, Baker Street, ELO, Supertramp etc) which hit big in 78/79.

"Brick House"

Objectively I know the answer is "Sir Duke," but sentimentality says

OTM indeed, and I like classic rock. And the disco tracks are similarly overplayed and predictable, except for maybe "I Want Your Love". Really, practically everything on that list bores me after 30 years, even the undeniable classics. I don't recognize that Little River Band title at all. (Tho I may recognize the SONG - have to check it out later.)

I guess I've gotta go for the meatiest thing here, "Sir Duke", with Eddie Money and the Commodores following. And I wish I could say anything halfway interesting about any of 'em.

GOT TO GIVE IT UP

one of my favorite Marvin moments ever. love the 18 minute LP version or however long it is

I like the Marvin Gaye one a little better, but I can't not vote for Stevie Wonder.

Went with Zevon, though a lot of funk and disco songs (Marvin, Stevie, Commodores, Chic, Trammps) come pretty close. May well have gone with REO, just because somebody should, if it wasn't the live version. Penalized "Free Bird" for being not one of my 30 favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. (And though I don't necessarily agree with Joseph that all the classic rock here -- and classic disco and funk, for that matter -- makes this volume "worse," I do definitely agree that it makes it more pointless, since so many of these songs are already on good albums by the albums in question. Which, again, is another reason why the original Have A Nice Day CDs were so much more worth owning than this stupid box set. But now I'm getting crabby, sorry.)

"on good albums by the ARTISTS in question," I mean.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 19:01 (seventeen years ago)

Also kind of want to say that "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" is better in its concurrent "Philadelphia Phillies version," though that would be lying. (Still very glad I own the 45 of the latter, though.)

if they included "Reminiscing" over "Happy Anniversary" by Little River Band than i would have gone with that. going with "Kiss You All Over" for this disc.
