Title track, all the way.

Ohm Sweet Ohm, this is my favourite Kraftwerk album I think, but I have memories of listening to Ohm Sweet Ohm everytime I went to work when I was working at a restaurant a few Christmases ago, and it would take about as long as this song to get there....

Ohhhhhm sweet Ohhhhhhm

I know, right?, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:11 (seventeen years ago)

It's a toss up between Ohm Sweet Ohm and Antenna. Antenna is a banger.

bmus, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:28 (seventeen years ago)

antenna!!

electricsound, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

(once memorably covered by yours truly)

electricsound, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

The title track is one of the best Kraftwerk songs ever, so that one is a rather obvious pick here.

Hearing Florian's voice on "Radioland" is sweet and somehow touching. Title track has to win though.

For some reason, several offline and online personalities told me to avoid Radio-Activity, or to put off until last, "fans only", etc. So I did, for the longest time, only picking it up a few years ago. Boy, they were wrong. Surely better than Autobahn, and some days I'd put it above Trans-Europe Express too. Parts of it are like a refined swan song to some of the paths they were exploring with 1/2/Ralf&Florian, like "Airwaves". I obsessed over Computer World, Man-Machine, Ralf & Florian and TEE for years and neglected this one.

"Airwaves" - I love the bit in the middle where the track is really motoring along and you can hear them laughing in the background.

my favorite kraftwerk album. Hard to believe it was cobbled together in 6 weeks between tours.

Imagine what it would have been like if they had not gotten on the wrong side Conny Plank.

I just realized I haven't heard any of these besides the title track! Must get now.

Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 19 August 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah. That's what everyone was always telling me, "The song Radioactivity is all you need, maaaannnnn..." When really it's 5-6 killer songs with nice ambient interludes inbetween. Would've made an unstoppable EP.

What did they do?

bmus, Tuesday, 19 August 2008 21:05 (seventeen years ago)

IIRC they either didn't pay him or credit him for Autobahn. I don't recall the exact details but they burned him somehow and he never forgave them. It has been a long time since I have read Wolfgang Fleur's biography, but he goes into it there.

I would not be offended if someone with a better memory and more precise details would like to correct me.

this album is fantastic, my fav kraftwerk. can't pick a favorite.

.... so i voted "ohm sweet ohm" because of the song title.

stephen, Thursday, 21 August 2008 01:21 (seventeen years ago)

My favourite. A short, sweet, digestible Kraftwerk. So there's nothing as memorable as "The Model", but it's a wonderful collage of titbits and ambient ideas. "Ohm Sweet Ohm" is incredible.

possibly the worst album cover ever though. looks like a bad photocopy.

the next grozart, Thursday, 21 August 2008 08:12 (seventeen years ago)

it sort of makes sense considering it was a concept album about positive and negative consequences of technology in our lives. The cover is based on this little gem:
