just cause the other thread has gone around in circles many times and it'd be nice to at least have some firm numbers as far as popular opinion here.

(And He Said) take it now!

Justified singles got almost double the votes of FS/LS singles in this poll, but then "singles and filler" is the perception Justified is up against here: J. Timberlake: The Singles Poll

My list was a bit offtm in that thread. Instead:

1. Cry Me a River
2. LoveStoned/I Think That She Knows
3. What Goes Around...Comes Around
4. My Love
5. Like I Love You
6. Senorita
7. Until the End of Time
8. Rock Your Body
9. Sexyback
10. Summer Love

This is tough. I've said before that FS/LS is a more consistent listen, but Justified has higher highs: its first eight tracks are pretty much unstoppable.

jaymc, Sunday, 17 August 2008 05:38 (seventeen years ago)

But FS/LS is only a more consistent listen because it has a bunch of segues and medleys, not because it doesn't have some totally mediocre songs.

some dude, Sunday, 17 August 2008 13:42 (seventeen years ago)

nah its a more consistent listen because its got more good songs--at least 7--than justified--maybe 5

max, Sunday, 17 August 2008 13:45 (seventeen years ago)

lol sorry i dont really mean to post like that, add an "imo" to the end of that sentence

max, Sunday, 17 August 2008 13:46 (seventeen years ago)

justified is obv weak juice

ice crӕm, Sunday, 17 August 2008 13:58 (seventeen years ago)

the whole steez is unpalatable

ice crӕm, Sunday, 17 August 2008 14:00 (seventeen years ago)

I'd probably take it

1. My Love
2. What Goes Around
3. Cry Me A river
4. Like I love you
5. Lovestoned
6. Summer Love
7. Senorita
8. Rock Your Body
9. Sexyback
10.Chop Me Up

Def Justified .Maybe it is less consistent, but FS/LS just sounded so "forced" (for lack of a better word) to me. As though he was straining to go away from the charts, wanting to be applauded by the critics. Justified was stilll close enough (and also far enough) from the last *Nsync record (which is pure pop pleasure).

There are enough flashes of greatness on FSLS to make up for the daft pretentiousness of the whole thing.

I know, right?, Sunday, 17 August 2008 14:28 (seventeen years ago)

You could also say FS/LS was still close enough (and also far enough) from the last Justin record, and be just as accurate.

The Reverend, Sunday, 17 August 2008 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

It seems to me that FS/LS has actually only solidified Justin's chart-topping pop omnipresence. It's no more of an "art" move vis a vis Justified than that was vis a vis N'Sync, and both of these were less forced than the art move of "Pop" (or at least the beatboxing coda of "Pop").

It's easy to get distracted by the title and the segues and forget that a) these are actually mostly straightforward songs that are no more unusual than any other chart-topping Timbaland pop production; and b) FS/LS actually has no concept, unless "lots of songs about girls, love, sex and dancing" is a concept, in which case most chart-pop albums are in fact vying to be Tales From Popographic Oceans.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

The vote ought to have gone to some *N'Sync album instead. They were better (or, less bad, more like)

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)

how would that have worked exactly?
