I'll spend a bunch of time in and out of the smaller stages, mainly to get a breather from the heaving masses. Anyone i should make a beeline for?

* Razmatazzlorryexcitement
Based solely on that name, I'd recommend making a beeline from this band.

Skeletons are quite fun, saw 'em earlier this year: http://www.myspace.com/salvationandtheskeletons

Out From Animals were one of the more musically interesting bands on the MobileAct Unsigned thingy last year, although they came across as divs a bit: http://www.myspace.com/outfromanimals

Despite a fair few of those names looking familiar-ish, the only ones I've actually seen are Pulled Apart By Horses, who are quite good fun but whose stage-trashing seems a wee bit try-hard at times. They're worth a punt, though, sort of ATDI-ish.

Ipso Facto

they're cunts. One of 'em is the daughter of the bassist from The Animals. One of them went on a date with someone I know, then revealed she was lez at the end of it.

Darlings of the Split Screen

Boring Sheffield 'glam' synth.

That Fucking Tank are a great instrumental duo from Leeds, or were; I have a feeling they have a singer as well now

I have heard that Fucking Tank are not awful.

caek, Monday, 18 August 2008 17:39 (seventeen years ago)

yeh that fucking tank can be awesome

Darlings of the Split Screen

Boring Sheffield 'glam' synth.

I had a look on myspace, realised they are friends of friends. I'd better avoid them as it'd be awkward if they were rubbish.

Wow i hope that fucking tank perform well live because their recorded songs are just impressively bad. http://www.myspace.com/landsandbody

They're a lot more fun to watch live IMO but I've always enjoyed their recorded output in a stripped-down Oxes/Uzeda kind of way

DJ Mencap, Monday, 18 August 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

Would I like any of this lot?

Oh, didn't see The Maybes? on there but they are a hugely dull jangly Scouse indie thing so forget them

DJ Mencap, Monday, 18 August 2008 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

I like the last TFT album a lot more than I liked seeing them live, which was not at all (unexpectedly as they're pretty much my thing and everyone else says they're better live than on record). On record, from memory, Shellac-esque riffage plus on latest album a twist of Trumans Watery fun times; onstage, abrasive slo-mo hectoring dirges, which could be a compliment from me, but no, I gave up halfway through and hid in the bar. Maybe an off night, for them or for me.

(Their myspace says they're playing an alldayer I go to every year this autumn, so I guess I'll find out then, which is a bit late for this thread)

Unless I decide there's a reason why the names Attack Attack and Hungry Ghosts are dimly familiar, that's all I can offer.
