Easily my LEAST favourite of the 4 CDs in this box. Voted Teenage Fanclub, but even they did way better later on.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:17 (seventeen years ago)

"This River Will Never Run Dry" is one of the best songs EVER!

Bee OK, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:18 (seventeen years ago)

Is it the original version or the live one from XYZ?

daavid, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:22 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway, I've yet to listen to the all the songs, but I doubt I'll like anything here more than "For Love".

daavid, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:30 (seventeen years ago)

sight of you!

electricsound, Thursday, 21 August 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

Is it the original version or the live one from XYZ?

i like the original version best, have no idea what version is included on this comp.

Geir thinks this is the worst of these CD's but the first seven songs are the best of this whole lot.

"This River Will Never Run Dry" is one of the best songs EVER!

Seconded! "I want to marry in the morning / with the sunlight in our eyes"

Though I've always wondered why the title is "will never" yet he always sings "never will"

Love that Catherine Wheel song, so that's where my vote goes.

Geir OTM.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 22 August 2008 12:52 (seventeen years ago)

Depends on your view of shoegazing of course. Personally I feel that shoegazing, along with Grebo, was among the worst blind alleys in British music ever. No wonder people's attention was mainly across the Atlantic at the time.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 22 August 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

"For Love" or "Vapour Trail". Today, the former.

DavidM, Friday, 22 August 2008 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

Comeuppance was much better than 0-0 AET though.

ledge, Saturday, 30 August 2008 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

only 8 votes for MBV. did everyone not bother voting as they thought everyone else would?

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 31 August 2008 03:00 (seventeen years ago)

Oh man, I wish I had seen this poll, grey cell green is the bee's knees.

askance johnson, Sunday, 31 August 2008 06:08 (seventeen years ago)

Blimey @ strong hidden Manics contingent on ilm.

DavidM, Sunday, 31 August 2008 07:33 (seventeen years ago)

I can't believe why Ned's Atomic Dustbin didn't walk this

Only Shallow - My Bloody Valentine
Star Sign - Teenage Fanclub
This River Will Never Run Dry - Moose
Sight Of You - Pale Saints

The above songs are all absolute classics in my opinion.

That Moose song is beautiful. This is all I have by Moose. Anybody care to recommend me some other Moose stuff. This is all I have by them

Xpost - didn't realise were are so many Manic maniacs on here.

Fer Ark, Sunday, 31 August 2008 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

Fer Ark, Sunday, 31 August 2008 14:07 (seventeen years ago)

Hahahha oh my god I haven't heard Manic Street Preachers "Stay Beautiful" in about a billion years. I'm going to have to go dig out my cassette of them. Goodness. That could take awhile.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 31 August 2008 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, actually that Moose song is one of my Top 5 fave Moose songs ever.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 31 August 2008 14:10 (seventeen years ago)

I'd also like to give a shoutout to my new friend Ed from the Boston area who actually was the first person I ever met besides me who knew who Thousand Yard Stare was! He doesn't post on ILX, though, sadly.
