Listening to it all the way through again, I feel I'm kinda cursed by having done a type of broadcast back in the day where I played around with effects and tape such that this triple-album doesn't do as much for me as I like. In fact, each movement feels exactly like someone noticed that the side of the cassette recording the proceedings noticed it stopped, so the recording dude/dudette had to stop to flip the cassette over, press record, and continue.
I'm curious how someone who hasn't been hands-on in home recording/experimentation feels about Trip - Flip Out - Meditation.
note: I love love love outsider art for many reasons, including all the strategies they bring forth that usually evade the canon that are truly unique, but I don't praise outsider art only because it's like WAAAAY outside, man.

good backstory on this record, the AMG review covers it pretty well.
I couldn't listen to it all the way through, myself.

It sounds like a middle-of-the-night radio show from the 80s on a progressive college radio station that one listened to one night randomly during a bout of insomnia.. except this was released in 1970, and put out by Philips! (a triple LP at that!)
Had the Negativland guys been 15 years older, and started Over The Edge 15 years prior, I think their very first radio shows would sound like this.

I think this is one of those things where the value as an artifact outweighs that actual musical value. IIRC one of the sides is just a recording of a radio tuned between 2 stations? It's all quite interesting in theory, but I can't imagine anyone actually sitting through it w/o getting restless/bored. The package itself is beautiful, silver-plated sleeve with an embossed bird of prey's head on the front, it's eye a mirror glued to the cover.
