Farmer twat, obviously. I mean, just everything about him.

Matt DC, Monday, 25 August 2008 11:48 (seventeen years ago)

I love Farmer Twat so much. I want to buy his cheese, but I'm not going all the way to Dalesford to get it. When will they start selling it in Neils Yard?

Masonic Boom, Monday, 25 August 2008 11:59 (seventeen years ago)

I don't like the way that Farmer Twat seems to be taking the piss out of that BBC2 "Maestro" programme.
Meanwhile, those four poll names sound like characters in an edgy re-imagining of Bod...

The King of Cheese seems to acknowledge what a twat he was, whilst in Blur doesn't he?

Did anybody see him floundering on Question Time though? Jesus christ - he was embarrassingly bad and totally drowning - not just under the weight of his enormous sideways haircut either.

It depends what you mean by 'worst'.

All Bran always came across along with farmer wanker as the conceited pricks.

My definite non worst was Coxon -when the bumbling nerd was always falling over pissed up. Then he found skateboarding FFS...

Fer Ark, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:17 (seventeen years ago)

Aspie. I saw him playing a quarter-assed show supporting Franz Ferdinand (at the Albert Hall for some reason). During his set he ducked offstage for a few seconds. He came back and explained: "I was just checking how long we've got to play for". He bent to check his guitar pedal, had a think about what he'd said, and came back to the mic. "We'd play all night if we could". Freddie Mercury he ain't.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:20 (seventeen years ago)

Apparently Coxon is known to repeatedly bang his head against the side of tables until he passes out. Which is weird, as I'm sure he could find someone to smack his skull into furniture for him.

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:22 (seventeen years ago)

'Harasser of Africans', don't you mean Renaissance Man?

Dunno who to vote for, I love them all to a greater or lesser extent.

Billy Dods, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:31 (seventeen years ago)

if only Albarn had no marf he would be well the best

blueski, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:37 (seventeen years ago)

who is bronson? Ten points for username.

This is a hard poll! Basically love farmertwat for being so great at his job of Being A Pop Star (and having fun sideprojects and being ludicrously goodlooking and knowing a) how much of a wanker he was and b) when to get out); Allbran hugely annoying and unlikeable but most of the music and label actually pretty enjoyable; Other One a bit laughable for Mars and politics and whatnot but hard to slag him for having interests; Aspie pretty awful musically but gets a million bonus points for walking at the right time and sticking to it.

energy flash gordon, Monday, 25 August 2008 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

Coxon is thr Aspie?

"A dig at troubled singer Amy Winehouse has been declared the funniest joke of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Comedian Zoe Lyons took the top spot after her jibe star was chosen in a public vote on digital TV channel Dave.

Her winning one-liner is: "I can't believe Amy Winehouse self-harms. She's so irritating she must be able to find someone to do it for her."

Raw Patrick, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 08:57 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, was going to say that as well....

How many ways could that get ILX'ed?

Mark G, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

Yo Zoe Lyons, do some Kyran Prince gags if you think you're hard enough.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:03 (seventeen years ago)

I like how The Other One stood for election as a Labour councillor and promptly lost a seat that the Conservatives had never won in 100 years of trying

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:03 (seventeen years ago)

No Ken Livingstone, no credibility.

Scik Mouthy, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:08 (seventeen years ago)

Alex Get Orf Moi Laarnd James is very watchable on Maestro. So far he isn't actually very good as a conductor but I'd much rather he stayed in it than jolly japes Jane Asher.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:09 (seventeen years ago)

He was very good on Saturday kitchen as well *hangs head in shame*. He came across as likeable and unpretentious (i.e. asking lots of questions instead of playing the big man) which is a bit annoying as I suspect he is neither of these

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:15 (seventeen years ago)

Useless on Question Time of course

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:19 (seventeen years ago)

The thing where he followed the cocaine trail and met some very. nasty. men showed him in a very good light, as well (though totally unprofessional as a 'journalist' / tv presenter). I fear we may have to accept that, in his 40s, he's not so much of a cockfarmer.

Scik Mouthy, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:20 (seventeen years ago)

I missed him on Question Time; did he sit on the Left or the Right?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:21 (seventeen years ago)

You mean liderally? He came across as a run-of-the-mill middle class bloke in his 40s, I imagine he'll be voting for Cameron.

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 August 2008 09:23 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, like traitor Berkoff.

He's only 39. (He's got to learn, etc...)

mike t-diva, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 10:38 (seventeen years ago)

I'm guessing that 'Aspie' here means 'person with Asperger's Syndrome'. Perhaps I am wrong. If I'm not wrong, then I don't know if that is a sensitive word to use. Isn't this syndrome a condition which people experience - or even suffer; which science and medicine are trying to understand, and about which social workers, carers et al would like us all to be more thoughtful? In that case I don't see why it is a more appropriate nickname than, let's see, 'spastic', 'wheelchair boy', or the like.

It is very strange, what one and cannot say, on ilx, nowadays. One can say 'Aspie' as a term of casual abuse, but one cannot talk about who should be in the Tottenham team without people complaining. A white person can write in mock black street language, and still accuse other people of being conservative.

I don't like Graham Coxon, and will vote for him in this poll. But that's because he's an irritating, conceited art-student wanker - he has never recovered in my estimation from his terrible, terrible contribution to the Blur South Bank Show, which may have been over 10 years ago.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 11:07 (seventeen years ago)

What you have to realise is that we're claiming the term back a la the current "untitled" Nas album.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 11:08 (seventeen years ago)

I will add that the sight of Blur at the top of the thread reminds me of how I did like them, and did think they were a vital pop force (yes!), in about 1994. I thought that Alex James was very attractive; I thought Allbran was too, in fact. I don't like Allbran, and have heard that he is a terrible arrogant interviewee, but he does keep on keeping on, musically. The drummer is inoffensive I would think. Coxon is definitely the worst.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 11:08 (seventeen years ago)

I'd vote for Albarn, but can't because I don't know if thats "aspie" or "harasser of africans", I haven't followed them much in recent years. Up to, er, the one after "parklife" I liked them, after that, YAWN. Albarn's mockney affectations still irritate even after all these years.

Pashmina, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 11:14 (seventeen years ago)

Would it ever have mattered if Rowntree were never there?

TS: Blur vs Flipper

DG, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

dave rowntree was a good drummer and the only one who wasn't irritating, but then he was so inoffensive he couldn't really compete with the rest of them.

the next grozart, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

I'd vote for Albarn, but can't because I don't know if thats "aspie" or "harasser of africans",

He is "harasser of africans". He was on TV last night on that "pop britannia" programme, and I could agree with most of the points he put forward on it. It's just that the residual Mockney geezer thing puts me off.
