Yeah, the acoustic tropical/polynesian jammers on this are nice--fits well between The Dodos and Animal Collective for much of it from what I recall, with a hard left turn into romo electro-pop near the end...

hi craig

Good record, I like this "back to nature" approach.

It's more gauzy that I expected.

yeah i can't get into this at all, largely because of the vocals. still better than vampire weekend though

I'd kinda like to hear this, but I saw them play one of the worst headline shows I've ever seen a few months ago. Wouldn't've minded, except they'd (he'd) just sacked 3-4 members of the previous lineup, who'd played been AMAZING every time I saw them

and, I guess, should be in there. Verily

"Oh Mojave" is the only track I play regularly. I do like it a lot though.

At Sonar I think it was the guy from the Ruby Suns and El Guincho playing together and they sounded amazing.

i'm trying to make a mix of summery/spanish sounding dancey stuff like this and el guincho - any suggestions?

accidentally grabbed the first album instead of the new one. it's an animal collective/beach boys tribute. made me start to think all these nu avant-pop bands are just elephant 6 all over again

On first listen parts of Fight Softly are a bit too Merriweather Post Pavilion meets The Postal Service for me, but when it all goes digital islander ("Cranberry", "Two Humans") it's sublime.

Having not heard MPP or any Postal Service ever, this sounds really fresh to me. Vocals are a bit grating, especially over a whole LP's length, but "Closet Astrologer" is dreamy prog and the ravier bits are really great.

I meant twee idyllictronica with hushed dewy vocals. But I may grow to love those bits. Yeah "Closet Astrologer" is great, but "Cranberry" is my jam.
