"Feargal Sharkey" -- Classic or Dud?

Minimal chart impact here, but "A Good Heart" and "You Little Thief" were huge UK hits in late 1985 and early '86. I've always had a weakness for the latter: a rewrite of Eurythmics' "Would I Lie To You?" with well-deployed soul horns and one of the oddest vocals ever recorded on a Top Five hit.

Is the rest of the album any good? I'm sure it sounds nothing like the Undertones.

I love the Undertones' last two records -- the much-maligned The Sin of Pride included.

He's had such an odd career. "Never Never" might actually be his high point.

(Actually is there an Assembly compilation out there? Really should be, especially after the Yaz box.)

The video is some kind of eighties Busby Berkeley extravaganza.

Rendered the Undertones all-but-unlistenable, thanks.

He's now CEO of songwriting advocacy organisation, British Music Rights, and recently wrote this article for The Independent:

fifteen years pass...

Post-Punk Legend Leads Fight for Clean Water as Britain’s ‘Sewage Czar’

Mr. Sharkey, 65, seems to be getting some adult kicks from being the scourge of the water firms, harrying their bosses on social media and reminding Britons of the dividends given to their shareholders.

He's arguably more well known for that now than being in the Undertones.

one year passes...

He's on Sky News right now excoriating water companies.

Good! (posted completely without irony)
