Voting for "Jessica Something", a wonderful song that became a powerpop classic or less because of its inclusion in this particular CD. Strong entries by Jellyfish and The Grays too, although this is probably the patchiest of the three CDs in the Poptopia series.

Wait is "I've been waiting" the totally adult-contempo one that is like "I've been WAITING...for a GIRL like you"? If so, why have I not ever listened to more of this guy's music?

Abbott, Thursday, 11 September 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

No, that is Foreigner's "Waiting (For a Girl Like You)". :)

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 11 September 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

Okay good then I don't have to try anything new.

Abbott, Thursday, 11 September 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

"I've Been Waiting" is a great song though. :)

Any 90's power-pop shortlist is nothing if it does not include Material Issue.

Any 90's power-pop shortlist is nothing if it does not include Material Issue.

They specifically apologized in the liners about not being able to license Material Issue, Teenage Fanclub or Gin Blossoms.

Disappointing to see Jellyfish and The Grays getting zero. Besides Tearaways, they are the best songs on this CD.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 21 September 2008 23:08 (seventeen years ago)

hurrah the right winner

I dunno if I'd have gone for "Solar Sister" or "I Can't Stop Smiling."

nabisco, Monday, 22 September 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

Solar Sister is awesome
