Johnny Cash live at San Quentin

I once got stuck on train on the way to Lincoln at Christmas with no toilet. Now because I have the bladder of an infant and like drinking coffee I had to get off at Sleaford and therefore spend an hour looking around Charity shops. It was here I brought two absolute bargins. Johnny Cash at San Quentin and 2001 A Space Oddessy Soundtrack. Both on Vinyl both 50p. I figured getting back on the train I would give one of the records to my friend Charles (who I was going to see) as a Christmas present. I had never really listened to Johnny Cash and I knew him being A Dylan fan he really would love it. He off course knew nothing of the man Cash and when we played I knew I had made a mistake. It was sensational. 2001 is good but it isn't really a "human" record. I think at the time he was kinda of into, which made me madder because I was absolute digging what I was hearing. But you cna't ask for your present back because you like it more than they do, it's just not the done thing. Well maybe in Norfolk. Cut to four years later and I find it for £2.50. I think it's one of the best live albums I've heard. I mean its in prison! Who agrees? Incidently are there two versions of it because I'm sure the original copy I bought for Charles had a longer Folsom Prison Blues on it. Just had to share that with you.

I don't know if there are any other versions - I don't think so. Might your memory be faulty here? You're right that it's a great album, certainly. Not that he was trying to repeat a trick, but At Folsom Prison is very good too.

don't miss out on Dylan and Cash, pretty infamous Dylan bootleg that's worth checking out as well...great stuff

also, the work of gyorgy lyeti (SP?) is of particular note on the 2001 soundtrack, certainly made an impact at the time

Gyorgy Ligeti aka 'Ligeti-G' - well, that's how he's known on the street.
