I went on vacation last week and I saw this on the TV in the room. This isn't any worse than anything else I saw on MTV last week.
I haven't lived in a house with television since 2003 and I have not seen MTV since then. I watched the VMA's and they made me feel bad about life.

He will probably make a grip of cash from this track.

If he had simply reissued the original recording of "Sweet Home Alabama" under his own name, it still would have been a far more creative act than this.

How? Did somebody read it then sign him to Lava/Atlantic? (It's not like he had all that much of a "career" in the first place -- pre Devil Without a Cause -- right?)

I like "All Summer Long" just fine (hey, it mentions Northern Michigan, and it's got almost as much "Night Moves" in it as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Werewolves of London.") But then I would.
