In Memoriam: Tape Exchange Board

Bill Steer (roxymuzak), Monday, 15 September 2008 18:30 (seventeen years ago)

I am seeking:

Interesting/Weird metal (obscure in the vein of Cynic or Atheist)
any Tanzanian, Kenyan, Congolese music (this is broad)
any music with Swahili lyrics
very obscure black metal
DRI ripoffs
any jamaican music of the 60s and 70s
whatever, ask

I can make you:
entry level black metal, reggae, highlife
pygmy chants
killer mix of hits from 1993
japanese pop
whatever, ask

Bill Steer (roxymuzak), Monday, 15 September 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

(I mean in the vein of cynic but obscure, not obscure like cynic are obscure because they are not very obscure)

Bill Steer (roxymuzak), Monday, 15 September 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

HOW DOES THIS WORK? i mean, are physical objects exchanged or wha

REIGN IN FUDGE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 01:01 (seventeen years ago)

i have some ideas for this that involve a separate board w/ungooglability and maybe a private setting if that might interest people. we have the power and the technology.

CHENG AND ENG PALIN BOOK TOUR (John Justen), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 01:05 (seventeen years ago)

I'm trying to get my footing in contemporary dancehall; been totally blown away by dancehall/dubstep crossover singles like Bug-Warrior Queen's "Poison Dart" and Turbulence's "Notorious", and I like my local station's dancehall show. But they never backsell.

I'd prefer a dozen or so, nothing too overwhelming.

Could make:
Garage Punk
Hardcore Punk/Pigfuck
Early Rockabilly/Hillbilly Bop/Western Swing
the underheard Ellington

there is nothing wrong with trading physical objects that are mixtapes!

genital grinder (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 04:35 (seventeen years ago)

I support the premise of this thread.

I can trade:

cassette culture 80's tapes
industrial and late 80's post-industrial rarities
Thinking Fellers bootlegs
etc.

No requests as of yet.

sleeve, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 04:45 (seventeen years ago)

Actually, I do have a request that I asked on Leonardo to no response.

Anybody got that post-Big Stick CD on Albertine by Drag Racing Underground? The only copy I see on the net is like $200 on Amazon, fuck that.

sleeve, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 04:47 (seventeen years ago)

that's not a mix!!!

genital grinder (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 05:22 (seventeen years ago)

no, but it is potentially a CDR. I misunderstood the thread.

my mix offers still stand.

sleeve, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

i could probably do the obscure black metal one. i don't know how obscure "very obscure" is, really, but what the hell.

REIGN IN FUDGE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 06:08 (seventeen years ago)

i want to make it clear that i am totally down with actual physical mixtapes as well. if people are doing cds, unless you are handpainting that shit, YSI is the same deal though, right?

xpsot

CHENG AND ENG PALIN BOOK TOUR (John Justen), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 06:10 (seventeen years ago)

genital grinder (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

ian, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

-obscure '70s major label country-rock
-siltbreeze & majora type 90s underground
