Whatever You Want - Best of Status Quo (disc one)

I don't have the heart to post disc two which features some truly execrable cover versions from the nineties.

Peel OTM with regards to "Down Down"

"Paper Plane" was the first one I liked.
"Caroline" was the first one I loved.
"Rockin' All Over The World" was the first one I hated.
"Whatever You Want" was OK, until it got nobbled by the Argos ads.
"Livin' On An Island" is a guilty pleasure, for personal reasons.
"What You're Proposin'" was the last one I liked.

But "Down Down" is straight-up perfect.

I've been living with my partner for over 23 years, and I only found out two weeks ago that he saw Status Quo SIX TIMES in the 1970s. SIX TIMES.

heard it on the radio the other day, for the first time in a long time, and was amazed to find myself thinking pretty much the same thing.

They never got better than "Pictures Of Matchstick Men", which is a fantastic psych pop song.

Geir, I thought you'd like 'Livin' on an island'.

The only of their later work that I really like is "Rock'n'Roll". The others are all too closely connected with the limited harmonic reportoire of 50s rock'n'roll.

Not much of a loss although Bolland's original is ace.

I'm going to skip this one.

I prefer Bolland's original as well. Geir: "Living' On An Island" is totally different from all the other Quo hits. It's mellow, mid-paced and acoustic-driven.

I know. But still harmonically very simple.

Caroline is route one football, but awesome nonetheless.

Howevers, were it a Status's, ahem, albums poll, I'd go for Quo wholeheartedly :)
