If not, then "Just Like Honey" by Jesus & Mary Chain is definitely, and that is a great song.

Not able to come up with a Top 10 as I am not quite sure about the boundaries, and I didn't like the early 90s experimental form of shoegaze (MBV, Chapterhouse etc.) much.

I actually find your list pretty good. Ulrich Schnauss is a great choice. I'd go for medusa on those two. I also completely forgot 'the verve' used to do amazing shoegaze, that one is one of my favorite eps from the 90s. Out from that record I'd pick 'man called sun' but 'she's a superstar' would be a more common and better choice for the matter.

M83 veers a tad towards electro but we're not being strict purists over here so that is a great choice. One of the best songs this year imho.

Ah and yes. JAMC are definitely overrated... I actually didn't knew people consider them a good band, I think of themselves as one hit wonders.

oh how could i have forgotten pale saints, of course they weren't all that shoegazey but then they were always included in conversations so 'a thousand stars burst open' is 10a.

(My Lush pick would be "Downer," I think. Also I'm sure if I scanned my older CD racks there'd be a ton of good shoegazer bands that just aren't coming to mind right now...)

someone who says JAMC is the most overrated band ever then proceeds to pick Catherine Wheel's "For Dreaming" as one of the greatest shoegaze songs of all time?! all of CW's b-sides are better than that, and that song (or anything post Chrome) doesn't even really have any shoegaze qualities.
