Is it true that music is better than clam chowder?

Someone told me that and although I didn't believe them, I am now unsure as I just had a bowl of clam chowder and I am beginning to doubt it all. Everything is getting blurry and it is hard to breathe as well. I feel like a ten pound feather is tickling my lungs. Did music do this to me?

Is music trying to kill me?

Is Winger still a band?

A Nairn, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A Nairn, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nine months pass...
depends if the chowder is made with fresh clams. i have had chowder that hurt my gut. maybe it was the heavy metals.

is it true that no one on ILX cares about clam chowder, except me and timbot?

ian, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 15:12 (sixteen years ago)

i care about clam chowder

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Tuesday, 30 June 2009 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

Ian I care about clam chowder and most things clam related for that matter. I've been dreaming of going to Woodman's in Essex for a couple weeks now. SO GOOD. Would go this weekend but it'll probably be a zoo.

ENBB, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:11 (sixteen years ago)

what kind is your fave jordan and enbb
i gotta roll with the white, though when i was a kid i appreciated the zestier manhattan stylee. clear broth chowder is pretty much unobtainable outside of RI right?

ian, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:13 (sixteen years ago)

i like the white creamy stuff too (nh). you have to search if you want to find manhattan around here and i haven't had the clear kind.

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:15 (sixteen years ago)

white creamy stuff.

ian, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:19 (sixteen years ago)

hmmmm

ian, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:19 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah NE over Manhattan normally although my Dad makes the most amazing Manhattan style cc I've ever tasted. You really don't see Manhattan cc very much at all and definitely not here in Boston. I've never even heard of the clear broth style.

How do you feel about baked clams? I love them but only if the clams are diced, mixed with the stuffing and then shoved back into the shells. I can't tolerate the whole bellied kind.

Gah! Now I just want to go hang out on the shore somewhere for a week and walk around barefoot and eat seafood foodstuffs. Oh, and also ice cream.

My wife and I have decided to go to either Essex or Ipswich to get some fried clams next time we visit my family in Boston. Is Woodman's the best bet in that area?

Moodles, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

Ack - I don't want to pass myself off as a expert or anything but I've been to Woodman's several times and it is very good just be prepared to wait in line.

ENBB, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

That's cool, just wondering.

When you say wait in line, do you mean for like 15 minutes or more like 2 hours?

Moodles, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:30 (sixteen years ago)

Love 'em. An RI speciality--stuffies! Tobasco & lemon juice & om nom nom nom.

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

Moodles - I guess it depends on day/time etc. but I'm sure I waited nearly an hour one time. However - worth it.

goole, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

When I was little my parents' had a restaurant in a beach town and once a week all summer long they had a clambake night. Lobster, baked clams, corn on the cob, bbq chicken, steamers, potatoes . . . it was awesome.

ENBB, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:52 (sixteen years ago)

I like music and do not like clam chowder so yeah

Nasty, Crutis & Short (The Reverend), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 07:12 (sixteen years ago)

*****ATTENTION IAN*****

I could not wait any longer. Our recent discussions of clam strip deliciousness resulted in cravings so intense that earlier today I drove up to Essex and housed the following clam strip sandwich and fries. Not pictured - the calm cake that was also enjoyed.

Moodles - that was from Woodman's and it was v v good.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Saturday, 11 July 2009 21:34 (sixteen years ago)

I had the best clam strips ever from a place in/near Boston called Mac's Clam Bar (or something close to that). But it was about 100 years ago; I can't imagine that restaurant still exists.

And yes; music is better than clam chowder.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 11 July 2009 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

mmmmm clams!11

Yuk clams. I like corn chowder though. Then again I've eaten out of cans while dropping a hundred or so on CDs.
