I'm thinking material like:
Metal Urbain - Creve SalopeMalaria! - Your Turn to RunDead Moon - Dead Moon Night
Some recent stuff would be nice - ie, post 2006. Nothing cuter than, say, the Ting Tings, and nothing more electro than, say, 'Space invaders are Smoking Grass'. Help this clueless old guy. Cheers!

Curses! - hungry 4 loveDanger - 11h30Delorean - Apocalypse Night FightIn flagranti - teaching children how to swear (the last min switch is wicked)Knightlife - ambobopTelephate - Devil's trident
― Moka, Monday, 22 September 2008 05:14 (seventeen years ago)
Wait I just realized you asked without vocals in which case neither does curses! or knightlife work, wicked tunes either way. The rest do have vocals though.
Mainly check out Delorean, think they might be up your alley.

This is beyond awesome, thank you all.
I'm really gearing this stuff to DJ to a rock crowd of mixed sexual preference which likes to dress up and likes to dance, if that provides some context. It needs to be fun stuff with a good tune, but also with plenty of attitude and a little on edge. Really important too that there's plenty of female vocals. To provide further context, I'll also be playing rock stuff like Plasmatics, The Cult... you get the idea.
― moley, Monday, 22 September 2008 07:22 (seventeen years ago)
in flagranti in general are pretty ace. try first tho because they might be a bit too hi-NRG/disco leaning. still they have a track called 'genital blue room', would be up yr alley moley.
― Deep House, M.D. (haitch), Monday, 22 September 2008 07:31 (seventeen years ago)
There's a track from the In Flagranti EP on Gomma called "What Are You Doing After the Orgy" that's one of the best things they've ever done, built around a sample of Johnny Rotten from "EMI." Might be the kind of thing you're looking for.

Nice. The Frenchies and the Canadians are good at this kind of thing aren't they? There's also Procon from Toronto.

Blank Dogs. Blank Dogs. Blank Dogs. Many things on the Sacred Bones label, in fact. The Blank Dogs site lets you download most of their stuff for free, though all non-cads will make a Paypal donation, of course:

On You Tube, there's a great video for their catchiest song: "Leaving the Light On." Check it out:

Lam! Lam! http://www.reverbnation.com/lamlam
The Prima Donnas pretty great at this too- "It's Ninteen Nointy-Eight, and REAGAN'S DEAD!" is one of my favorite song kickoffs.
More Francophones: Les Georges Leningrad.
Miss Kittin's "Meet Sue Be She" might be my favorite song in this whole genre.
