Yes. War.
― My name is Kenny, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)
will Chic make the cut at fucking last?
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)
War are one of the best bands/artists up there.
― xhuxk, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
anyone but Metallica. I bet they get in before the Stooges nonetheless. Chic shouldn't have any trouble making it in this time around, though.
xp
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)
What disco artists are already in? They wouldn't be the first, would they?
― xhuxk, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)
Run-DMC would get my only yesvote from that list.
― Radiant Flowering Crab (Rock Hardy), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)
The closest to a disco act in the Rock Hall is the Bee Gees.
― My name is Kenny, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:35 (seventeen years ago)
really? wow!
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
wait, doesn't Off the Wall-era Michael count as disco anymore?
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
Man I hate the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Will Metallica make it in? I dunno, has Jethro Tull already made it?
― Pleasant Plains, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:39 (seventeen years ago)
isn't Donna Summer inducted already? No?
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:39 (seventeen years ago)
don't think so. shameful as that may be.
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)
War deserve it along with the stooges chic and metallica

i think all of these are fine nominees and they should all make it in.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 22 September 2008 18:31 (seventeen years ago)
i'd skip Jackson, Beck and Womack this time out--they're just too marginal when compared with the others. but so are Metallica, and they're a shoe-in.
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 18:44 (seventeen years ago)
beck seems marginal. sort of.
but goddamn his playing in the yardbirds and jeff beck group is so thrilling to me.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 22 September 2008 18:58 (seventeen years ago)
oh yeah, definitely--i'm talking about his solo stuff here. besides, the Yardbirds have already been embalmed. er...inducted, that is.
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, jethro tull if they arent in there yet

i'm not complaining about the thread
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 22 September 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
Are any prog bands in? Rush, Yes, King Crimson? If not, why aren't they nominated?
― Bill Magill, Monday, 22 September 2008 20:10 (seventeen years ago)
are you kidding? this thing is backed by Rolling Stone, man. hell, it was damn near a miracle when Sabbath made the grade back in '01 (i think). 'nuff said.
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 20:14 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, but the big Rush feature in RS over the summer gave some people hope that there might be a policy reversal going on.
― some dude, Monday, 22 September 2008 20:16 (seventeen years ago)
True. I dont get that. I also never understood how they decide who from the band gets inducted. I know noone but the original 4 Sabs was inducted (which I don't have much of a problem with) but I remember that Doug Yule was excluded when the Velvet Underground got in. I don't like VU much, if at all, but the guy played on half their albums. Seems kind of arbitrary.
― Bill Magill, Monday, 22 September 2008 20:18 (seventeen years ago)
Metallica will make it, Stooges won't, world continues as fucked up as it was before.
― Bimble, Monday, 22 September 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)
a prog hall of fame would be lol, would support
― homosex quarterly (velko), Monday, 22 September 2008 20:21 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, that makes no sense at all. i'm sure that Woody was inducted with the rest of the Stones, though. so who know how in hell they decide these things. (if the Stooges finally get in, will Williamson be excluded?)
xxp
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Monday, 22 September 2008 20:23 (seventeen years ago)
Not a duff one in the bunch. Each of the nominees has released amazing music. I'd vote War, Run-DMC, Chic, Metallica, and the Stooges (though they may have played out their shot with their set last year).
― dad a, Tuesday, 23 September 2008 04:00 (seventeen years ago)
Emphatic yes to War and Run-DMC, less emphatic yeses to the rest. At some point the HOF's really going to have to change its name to something more inclusive, though.

Wouldn't it be great to just start a band today and call it Metallica?

Metal-Likah!
― Perry-Como-Zombie-Memorial-Radio-Now! (Ioannis), Tuesday, 23 September 2008 09:21 (seventeen years ago)
These will be the three most ovious inductees, as the others are not "rock'n'roll" enough for the RRHOF voters, who are known to be very purist about what "rock'n'roll" is:
The StoogesMetallicaJeff Beck
― Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 23 September 2008 09:35 (seventeen years ago)
Metallica on Jools Holland last Friday were very ovious indeed.
― LBC's Steve Allen good morning I'm afraid (Marcello Carlin), Tuesday, 23 September 2008 09:36 (seventeen years ago)
Ugh. Metallica would be perfect for that Hall of Wankers.

but didn't grandmaster flash make it in last year? i'd say RUN-DMC is a shoo-in; jeff beck probably too, even though he didn't do anything after truth that could remotely approach it.
― Lawrence the Looter, Tuesday, 23 September 2008 21:51 (seventeen years ago)
Metallica were all set for being nominated when they performed "Hole In The Sky" and "Iron Man" on behalf of Black Sabbath at the 2006 induction ceremony. It was pretty awesome.
Not to be outdone, Madonna had The Stooges perform "Burning Up" and "Ray Of Life" for her 2007 induction.
So if The Stooges are inducted, will they return the favor and give Madonna the honor of performing "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "T.V. Eye"? Who will keep the trend going? LCD Soundsystem perform Chic's songs? Lil' Wayne doing Run-DMC?
― Fastnbulbous, Tuesday, 23 September 2008 22:09 (seventeen years ago)

Twelve acts enter, five acts leave! Will this finally be the Stooges' year?? Can you believe Kiss finally got onto a ballot? Won't it be a travesty if the Peppers make it before Iggy Pop? I can hardly contain my anticipation!
