so i just exchanged my air rifle for a 400 watt light. what music helps plants grow? the san francisco guy might be able to help with this one.

get a nylon-string acoustic guitar and play for your little darlings. they love the sound of it. quietly played wind instruments (like a muted trumpet) are also good. they don't like the trumpet playing, but they're greatful for all the carbon dioxide you expel.

actually there are a number of 'music to make your plants grow' LPs. i think the basic idea is that plants grow better when exposed to a particular frequency, and the music on the album is basically to mask this single drone frequency.

don't worry too much about your power consumption. power usage is only investigated if there's valid suspicion, or something grossly out of whack. think of it this way: a lot of computers have 300 watt power supplies. i leave mine on 24 hours a day. that's only 100 watts different from an HPS lamp (and your lamp will only be on for the full 24 hours during the vegetative phase). let's just say a friend of mine was surprised to see that his power bill actually went DOWN during his horticultural ... um process.
