Now this is hard as this box ends with a marvellous disc crowded with goodies.

"In a Room", "The Riverboat Song", "Slight Return" and "Tattva" are all among the best singles ever released regardless of time or genre.

"Girl From Mars", "Sale Of The Century", "You're Gorgeous", "Something 4/For The Weekend", "Service", "Wide Open Space", "Step Into My World", "Lucky Man" and "Mulder And Scully" are all great as well.

Voted "In a Room", just ahead of "The Riverboat Song".

Geir Hongro, Friday, 26 September 2008 01:20 (seventeen years ago)

Is this a vote for the worst? Only 3 maybe 4 good tracks on there.

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 September 2008 01:31 (seventeen years ago)

Only 2 or 3 that are not absolutely fantastic.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 26 September 2008 01:39 (seventeen years ago)

The Bluetones

Bee OK, Friday, 26 September 2008 02:44 (seventeen years ago)

Aight then I'll vote brimful of asha since it's the first one I saw that hongro didn't mention.

Moka, Friday, 26 September 2008 02:52 (seventeen years ago)

as much as i love a handful of these, oh jim justifies gay dad ever existing and totally rules

I do love several of this tunes, however I'll have to go with the extraordinaty voice of Cherys Matthews in Mulder & Scully. It pictures it's own time and tells us about what was going on back in that day and tonight i feel that's what i want.

The Atlantis Mystery Solved! (Frogman Henry), Friday, 26 September 2008 06:12 (seventeen years ago)

I'd have voted for "Ladies and germs it's the fabulous stains gentlemen we are floating in space", but it seems wrong to hear that and not hear "Come Together" immediately afterwards.

So I went Henri Winterman.

Mark G, Friday, 26 September 2008 08:25 (seventeen years ago)

Nice bands, but why those songs? You got me just mentioning the Super Furry Animals, but why those songs? Why 'Oh Jim' instead of 'To earth with love'?

Roy, Friday, 26 September 2008 09:31 (seventeen years ago)

And also, i agree with Henri. Come Together is great!

Roy, Friday, 26 September 2008 09:32 (seventeen years ago)

Wow, there's some awful awful stuff on this album. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel there.

Oh god, I ended up voting for the Divine Comedy just because it's only glimmer of brass in a shower of shit.

Why 'Oh Jim' instead of 'To earth with love'?

Nice bands, but why those songs? You got me just mentioning the Super Furry Animals, but why those songs?

In the case of SFA I agree there could have been better picks. Lots of greats on "Radiator" for starters.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 26 September 2008 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

Hermann loves Pauline. Definitely.

Roy, Friday, 26 September 2008 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

I was playing the greatest hits yesterday/today. "Ice Hockey Hair" possibly the best...

Mark G, Friday, 26 September 2008 12:11 (seventeen years ago)

XP I have a soft spot for "She's Got Claws", but surely "Hermann Loves Pauline" is a single of course.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 26 September 2008 12:11 (seventeen years ago)

ash v divine comedy FITE

"In a Room", "The Riverboat Song", "Slight Return" and "Tattva" are all among the best singles ever released regardless of time or genre.

Beyond parody.

Neil S, Friday, 26 September 2008 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

Was going to vote Blutones, but picked Sleeper instead.

"Brimful Of Asha" and "Ladies And Gentlemen...." are completely OK but no more. Which makes them the worst tracks on this generally brilliant CD.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 5 October 2008 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

Btw. I realize have mistaken the OCS song. "The Riverboat Song" is only average. "The Day We Caught The Train" is absolutely genius though.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 5 October 2008 00:07 (seventeen years ago)

I can't believe that Geir doesn't like Cornershop for some reason.

Party Sausage, Sunday, 5 October 2008 00:54 (seventeen years ago)

It's not like I dislike Cornershop, more like most of the rest of this particular CD is so extremely fantastic.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 5 October 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

"In a Room", "The Riverboat Song", "Slight Return" and "Tattva" are all among the best singles ever released regardless of time or genre

Geir, have you ever compiled a best songs of all-time list? You know, your top 1000, top 10000, something like that? I'd genuinely love to see it

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 5 October 2008 09:52 (seventeen years ago)

I think it is a very long time since last time I compiled one as I have been more interested in albums lately plus the addition of album tracks makes such a list very complex.

But I know the following songs would all be very high in the list:
Genesis: "Supper's Ready" (my all time favourite), "Firth Of Fifth", "One For The Vine", "Dancing With The Moonlight Knight"
Depeche Mode: "The Landscape Is Changing", "Blasphemous Rumours" and "Told You So"
Queen: "Bohemian Rhapsody" (my all time favourite single)
Blur: "Country House"
10cc: "Don't Hang Up", "Une Nuit a Paris" and "I'm Mandy Fly Me"
The Cure: "Let's Go To Bed" and "Friday I'm In Love"
Dodgy: "Staying Out For The Summer" and "In a Room"
Ocean Colour Scene: "The Day We Caught The Train"
Howard Jones: "Hide & Seek"
