TS: CHROME alien soundtracks vs. half machine lip moves

been nursing a slight chrome obssession lately and got to wondering... their second and third albums are generally accepted as the twin towers of their psychedelicized acheivements, but which is the true grape?

most fans seem to prize half machine lip moves, but alien soundtracks gets under my skin in a much more satisfying manner.

so share yr love or rep for the third path.

Arrrrrrgh . . I no longer keep enough (any) drugs in the house to make a proper assessment. Gut feeling is Half-Machine Lip Moves, but actually more of the track titles from Alien Soundtracks evoke immediate memories. Will drag out the vinyls.

Hmmn it's either Alien Soundtracks or something else (i.e. Red Exposure.)

Alex in SF, Friday, 26 September 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

Third From The Sun is enormous, but let's not muddy the bongwater any further.

Soukesian, Friday, 26 September 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

Well there is a some other chrome album option.

Alex in SF, Friday, 26 September 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

hmlm gets better as it progresses, whereas alien soundtracks kind of trails off... but the run of tracks 1-6 on alien soundtracks is unmatched in the canonical chrome albums.

"chromosome damage" is one of my all-time fave album openers. I like how it lays out the ground rules for everything they would do after that point in one fail swoop.

Edward III, Friday, 26 September 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

I basically agree.

Alex in SF, Friday, 26 September 2008 18:12 (seventeen years ago)

So do I. Was listening to both albums last night.

Tom D Gives You the Big Reassure (Tom D.), Saturday, 27 September 2008 11:07 (seventeen years ago)

I need to dig these out later this morning.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 27 September 2008 12:53 (seventeen years ago)

Alien Soundtracks is actually slightly ahead for me - I really like ST37. I'll give it some more time though.

Soukesian, Saturday, 27 September 2008 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

half machine

Zeno, Saturday, 27 September 2008 16:22 (seventeen years ago)

Alien Soundtracks has "All Data Lost" while Half Machine Lip Moves does not

I've listened to Lip Moves more, but Alien Soundtracks is better

HALF MACHINE

REIGN IN FUDGE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 28 September 2008 07:36 (seventeen years ago)

quite difficult to answer, but its Alien Soundtracks - because its the first Chrome album I listened to and there's Nova Feedback.

Marco Damiani, Sunday, 28 September 2008 08:44 (seventeen years ago)

Alien Soundtracks is like Obama, people, don't forget to VOTE ON NOV 4!

Alex in SF, Friday, 10 October 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

that is not a representative turnout in the polls.

sleeve, Friday, 10 October 2008 01:23 (seventeen years ago)

lol alien soundtracks fans too stoned to press vote button

kind of fitting though, chrome not lounging in obscurity would disrupt the cosmic balance

crops fail, cities levitate, the dead walk the earth, etc

Edward III, Friday, 10 October 2008 13:56 (seventeen years ago)

I can't remember if I voted but I would have voted for the winner anyway
