Who Can Measure Up To Freddie Mercury's Diva?

Was watching an old Queen documentary on PBS (US public tv) last night, which covered their early days through the "Freddie Mercury Tribute" in 1992. I never realised how many of their songs I knew before knowing who they actually were: "We Are The Champions", (bloody) "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Innuendo", etc. Of course, they seemed to be a prerequisite for every kid who would release their inner "rock demon" while dancing in front of the mirror.

So, are there any musicians out now who deserve to called a "rock diva", in your opinion? No, Justin Timberlake doesn't count....

Marc Almond

Cecilia, actually his name didn't pop into my head, til way later. But does he still count now...? I guess my question is: what makes him that way? Is it one quality in particular?

Choice, sheer choice. Just like picking out an outfit. Matthew M. can confirm this.

Ok, I'm a trouble-maker. That was a joke.

I'll give Mercury the credit for having the chutzpah for going from a long-haired glitter queen to a faux-butch leather queen mid- career. Unfortunately, both images were repellent. While it's not explicit in the question, the examples offered seem to imply Nichole is looking for a male diva. What makes you a diva, surely not just being queeny? But in any case, I'll nominate the "true fairy" of rock, Jobriath Boone.

i'm not sure what is it... but to me, the words "marc almond" and "rock diva" are closely related. maybe it's his flamboyant gestures? the "tenement symphony" sleeve should illustrate the "rock diva" definition!

To me, the words "Marc Almond", "Rock Diva" and "Ned Raggett" are closely related. I'm not sure what it is either.
