decent ones: "Ghost In My House" "I'm Not Satisfied"
There is not one cover that I don't like..
Personally, I think they should do a whole lp of covers.. or at least a compilation of all cover songs.

The Fall covered The Monks and since The Monks were the best band ever, therefore those covers are The Fall's best covers ever. QED.
― NYCNative, Thursday, 27 January 2011 16:00 (fifteen years ago)
I've not heard The Fall's versions of 13, 14, and 20-23
― Mark G, Thursday, 27 January 2011 16:31 (fifteen years ago)
My friend saw them do Dropout Boogie.
― Trip Maker, Thursday, 27 January 2011 16:32 (fifteen years ago)
23 is a source for Rowche Rumble more than a straight cover iirc.

Transfusion is off that risible Mark E Smith/Ed Blaney album. However that track specifically is absolutely metnal.
― Herr Kapitan Pugvosh (GamalielRatsey), Thursday, 27 January 2011 16:36 (fifteen years ago)
And yes, clearly inspired Rowche Rumble.
― Herr Kapitan Pugvosh (GamalielRatsey), Thursday, 27 January 2011 16:37 (fifteen years ago)
Dropout Boogie they just used to insert into various songs, which specific ones escapes me for the moment.
^^ a go-to poster for Fall science.

What, no "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight?"
― bentelec, Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:23 (fifteen years ago)
Ha! Yeah, there's a whole other category of songs they've blatantly ripped off (Brix claims that she didn't intentionally do I Wanna Be Your Dog for Elves, which is... idk, strange at the very least). Friend of mine can't actually listen to Athlete Cured because of the Spinal Tap thing, but I really don't care. Magnificent song - so much content.
― Herr Kapitan Pugvosh (GamalielRatsey), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:26 (fifteen years ago)
Well, that new box set has let "Hey Mark Riley" loose for the first time, writer credited to Mark E DiddleySmith.

I really want The Fall to cover the viral Chinese New Year video:

Loving the "Lost In Music" cover right now

Missing "Do the Hucklebuck" and Deep Purple's "Black Night".

Weird (but awesome) that this is coming out on Ace, which is a fine label known for putting out old R&B / doowop / early rock & roll / "songwriter" series from the likes of Bacharach, Goffin & King, Randy Newman (etc) / the odd jazz title. Very little that's modern in any way, and almost nothing that's in any way postpunk in sound or influence. But God bless 'em for this!
With comments on The Fall from several of the original artists.
Probably the Saints, Iggy and some guy from the Monks or Groundhogs . . . but I'd love it if they got Wanda Jackson or Ray Davies or Sister Sledge!
― crustaceanrebel, Thursday, 10 February 2011 06:09 (fifteen years ago)
A friend works for Ace, and iirc they want to do more post-punk/80s stuff. Gambacinni market won't be around forever.
― portrait of velleity (woof), Thursday, 10 February 2011 10:23 (fifteen years ago)
In fact, just contacted said friend & turns out they're the mastermind behind this.
― portrait of velleity (woof), Thursday, 10 February 2011 11:47 (fifteen years ago)
Listening to Tyler the Creator - French reminds me that the song The Fall used to insert Dropout Boogie into was Dr Buck's Letter.
― Herr Kapitan Pugvosh (GamalielRatsey), Thursday, 10 February 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)
that would be awesome to see live
― kkvbgz (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 10 February 2011 20:47 (fifteen years ago)
Just got one.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 14:39 (fourteen years ago)
I still think they should have included Dusty Springfield's "Every day I have to cry some"...
― Mark G, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 16:16 (fourteen years ago)
And maybe they couldn't get the rights to "Just Waiting" or something (the Hank Williams song)? That's possibly my favorite Fall cover.
― timellison, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 22:50 (fourteen years ago)
Stupid question: which came first, Savage Pencil the artist or Savage Pencil the fall lyric?
When I went through all the Fall albums back in February, the cover that really blew me away was White Lightening, of all things. Cool videos for it too.
― dlp9001, Thursday, 7 April 2011 01:53 (fourteen years ago)
Pretty sure it was the artist.

This comp was from 1977 or 78, which Fall lyric has "Savage Pencil" ?

Your Heart Out I think.
― GamalielRatsey, Thursday, 7 April 2011 08:53 (fourteen years ago)
And yeah, pretty sure it was the artist.

Which Fall record has "Rock Lobster" on it?
