Laub - Filesharing

Hmm, asking questions on a Friday afternoon always a bad idea, especially on a quiet day like today. However, I've just been listening to tracks from the new LP by the German duo Laub (on Kitty-Yo), and it's rather wonderful. Anyone else heard it / agree?

it was being played on the soundsystem in a local record shop while i was browsing the other day. if i'm not mistaken it has kind of an "oval"-ish feel to it, only more melodic and flowing. the vocals were detached but very interesting. apparently her vocals are derived from bits of html and web scripting (which is extremely pretentious but fun).

Haven't heard Filesharing but was most impressed with 'unter anderen bedingungen als liebe'. Lovely fragmented techno-noir torchsongs. Is 'File Sharing' exploring similar territory?

I thought Antye Greie-Fuchs' collaboration with Vladislav Delay was the best thing on Clickhop Vol.1 by a good long way. Very keen to hear the Laub material. For some reason I was reminded of Bahamadia's vox on that first Roni Size LP - detached, clipped, rhythmic - and in an environment where there's normally no vocals at all.

"Lovely fragmented techno-noir torchsongs" sounds exactly right from what I've heard of Filesharing.

For the sake of clarity, I should say I've only so far heard the two tracks on the latest kitty-yo sampler (2002.02) and downloaded 3 one- minute samples from this page.

The band's own site - http://www.laub-filesharing.de/ has a pop-up with more mp3s to download, but I think that these might be from a different record (a remix 12" perhaps?)

It is a purty album. Kind of a glitchy Portishead.
