Oh, and this poll was inspired by this thread.

Neil S, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:00 (sixteen years ago)

Bizkit for me!

Neil S, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:00 (sixteen years ago)

tool by a trillion miles

though break stuff is a jam

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:01 (sixteen years ago)

At their height, I hated them. Now they just seem quaint and harmless. And easier to ignore. So I'm voting Limp Bizkit.

WEAR THE GRUDGE LIKE A CROWN!

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:04 (sixteen years ago)

As a teenager I genuinely liked LBs first album. Faded very fast, second album sealed that I in fact hated them. But still.

Anyway, Tool, who I think are OK, by a light year.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:04 (sixteen years ago)

Bizkit.

I have never parted with money for Limp Biskit albums, so they get my vote.

On the other hand, I really like Tool's Aenima (the song, not the whole long, boring, Bill-Hicks-sample-filled album).

I really like the first Perfect Circle album, but they're not the same thing.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:16 (sixteen years ago)

If anything a Bizkit victory would be ILM Challops Revisionism at its worst.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:17 (sixteen years ago)

I dunno, Tool are better, more interesting musicians by a significant margin, but they're just so po-faced. Bizkit have an inkling that they're basically preposterous.

Gotta give it to Tool really though, Undertow was pretty rocking.

chap, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:17 (sixteen years ago)

Wow this one's going to the wire!

Good points for both bands:

LB: had Method Man phoning it in for a cameo on one of their old tracks.
Tool: Hidden homosexual agenda. Also had PQM project cover one of their songs and turn "Anathema" into a trance tune with female diva vocals.

Tool are better, more interesting musicians by a significant margin, but they're just so po-faced.

Yeah, but since when are prog-metal guys allowed to be interested in FUN?

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

Power metal aside, of course.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

Sorry foax, my mistake, The PQM cover was of "Aenema" (and it's a banger)

the goose that got the cream (I am using your worlds), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

Tool: Hidden homosexual agenda.

Didn't they call one of their records "Prison Sex" though?

Neil S, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:26 (sixteen years ago)

Tool by a significantly large margin. This ILX revisionism kills me. What's next Dave Matthews Band winning a DMB vs. Kraftwerk TS?

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:28 (sixteen years ago)

That's not an entirely fair comparison. Tool are no Kraftwerk.

chap, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:30 (sixteen years ago)

Tool never came near as good a song as "Everybody N 2 Gether Now".

Carrie Bradshaw Layfield (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:31 (sixteen years ago)

Kraftwerk never came near as good a song as "Tripping Billies"

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:32 (sixteen years ago)

True, and I can see the sense of this poll re: ridiculousness, but still... wasn't Fred Durst like ILX's most hated man for quite some time?

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:32 (sixteen years ago)

Tool ARE interested in fun, tho! The booklet art for Aenima consists of a load of spoof album covers.

100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:34 (sixteen years ago)

I take it you'll be voting Tool, then.

Neil S, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:35 (sixteen years ago)

TS: po-faced vs. black-faced

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:36 (sixteen years ago)

I haven't made my mind up quite yet.

100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:36 (sixteen years ago)

Tool are the dullest live band it's ever been my displeasure to witness (Lateralus release show at Hammerstein Ballroom). Limp Bizkit at least had the Woodstock '99 fratboy riot to their credit. So since there's no "shoot yourself in the face like that mutilated Judas Priest fan" option, I gotta go with LB.

unperson, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:37 (sixteen years ago)

tool by far but i don't really care to hear any new tool albums

Tool are better, more interesting musicians by a significant margin, but they're just so po-faced.

This is *so* incredibly wrong. That Maynard James Keenan dude is practically a comedian! He's in Mr. Show skits, and performs in old fashioned pajamas with the butt flap hanging open, wrote a song called "Hooker with a Penis," does hilariously deadpan interviews, etc. etc. No sex tape yet, though.

Savannah Smiles, Friday, 3 October 2008 16:06 (sixteen years ago)

N 2 Gether Now is shit

billstevejim, Saturday, 4 October 2008 00:32 (sixteen years ago)

And the video is an abortion

billstevejim, Saturday, 4 October 2008 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

Tool, obviously. More annoying fans, but that's because they /have/ fans.

Mordy, Saturday, 4 October 2008 00:35 (sixteen years ago)

That's the point duh. LB don't have fans so are less irritating.

rjberry, Saturday, 4 October 2008 13:58 (sixteen years ago)

maynard never appeared on an episode of house or were subjects of an anal cunt song.

that said, i vote TOOL.

Eisbaer, Monday, 6 October 2008 01:41 (sixteen years ago)

also, it's a good excuse to post Anal Cunt lyrics:

Fred Durst is a fucking faggot
He thinks he's black, but he's just gay
He cancelled a show 'cause he sprained his ankle
He's also a fucking midget

Chorus:
You're not fucking black, you're just fucking gay (x2)
You're fucking gay

The guitarist wears a mask
To hide the cum stains on his face
They're the gayest band I've ever seen
And I've seen the Culture Club live

Fred wears a hat to hide his baldness
I refuse to believe blacks think he's cool
I wish he'd beaten and raped by some black guy
And see if he still wants to be black

Eisbaer, Monday, 6 October 2008 01:44 (sixteen years ago)

While Tool aren't one of my favorite bands (in fact, the only one I'm a really big fan of is Aenima), I would rather listen to Roseanne queef the national anthem than ever hear Limp Bizkit again.

Life Begins at Death (Bo Jackson Overdrive), Monday, 6 October 2008 02:01 (sixteen years ago)

Limp Bizkit: got famous by buying prime time ad time on a Portland radio station called KUFO - for $15k they got a week of heavy rotation of their first single "Counterfeit". It worked, though this legal scandal made the NY times.

Tool: took Melvins, Isis, Mastodon, Kinski, Melt-Banana, Big Business, Russian Circles, Trans Am, and King Crimson on tour as support acts.

***

I don't listen to either but I do respect one of these bands to some degree.

They're the gayest band I've ever seen
And I've seen the Culture Club live

dude, why go to a culture club concert in the first place? Moreso, why go to a limp bizkit concert if you hate them that much?

Oh and you're an idiot Nate. Since when is payola mildly revolutionary or respect-worthy?

Moka, Thursday, 9 October 2008 08:17 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, get out of that one Seth From Anal Cunt

The Slash My Father Wrote (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 9 October 2008 08:42 (sixteen years ago)

I just remembered that I liked Tool's Opiate pretty well. If my memory serves me (which it doesn't usually) parts of it reminded me of Nomeansno. Never could figure out why he wanted to throw that Bob Marley wannabe motherf*cker outta there though.

yay ILM has not gone completely crazypants

Like sicking a little bit of water into my mouth (HI DERE), Friday, 10 October 2008 15:14 (sixteen years ago)

I bet some of the LB votes were ironic too

jigglepanda.gif (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 10 October 2008 15:38 (sixteen years ago)

I wouldn't want to listen to either particularly, I think I would at least glean some enjoyment from Durst and co. though. So not exactly an ironic choice, more making the best of a bad job.

Neil S, Friday, 10 October 2008 15:41 (sixteen years ago)

y'know, I used to really like (and still do marginally like) LB's "Stuck"...it's a neat little rap about Social Distortion, and the cadences get
a little tricky sometimes.

Drugs A. Money, Friday, 10 October 2008 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

thirteen years pass...

shoulda been 66-0
