I've really been digging "In the Evenin' When the Sun Goes Down," a tough piece of music he cut for Jerry Wexler and Ahmet Ertegun in 1954. Aimed less at the teen market than some of his other Atlantic stuff, more at drinking-age roadhousers. Mickey Baker plays lead guitar that threatens to scrape your eardrums, while Sam "The Man" Taylor and Frank "Haywood" Henry provide the true honk on tenor and baritone. Killer.
