When starting your own record label, what's the best way to do packaging and distrabution? (other then just selling CDRs at all the bands shows) are there cheap outside companies that do this for you?

Packaging is the easy part, you just need capital. Look in the back of musician-type magazines and you'll find tons of ads for manufacturing of CDs, vinyl, even cassettes... what ever you want. Distribution is entirely different, in that a distributor has interest only in music that sells... they make an agreement with the label, the finished product is sent to the distro, who sells it to the stores and handles the returns. Basically, just sign really cool bands, and the distributors will want to work with you.... otherwise, sell it on the internet and at shows.
