could someone explain akufen a bit to me? i downloaded some songs and there are three that i could get into - 'even white horizons' 'installation' and 'skidoos'. then the tracks all become really jumpy samples, like somebody flipping thru the radio dial. i could see this maybe for a minute or so, but it seems to be 6 straight songs of it. can anybody explain the appeal of this?

Yeah it gets old. The tracks you cited are probably the better ones on the album. The radio micro-sampling thing is fun at first because it seems magical how it's all coherent while the seams are showing. After a while, though, you realize that listening to the Avalanches sped up times 100 over a pulse doesn't equate to experiencing a quicker more concentrated rush.

i could be wrong but I'd imagine he'd get a little more into the groove for a live show - like inna Psychometry-style?

Is psychometry in 6/8 or something, cos I can never seem to get it into a mix?

Dunno about time signatures, but try using some Hakan Lidbo, or do what M.Mayer did and use Thomas Fehlmann's Gratis.

Or just use "Gratis" period!

it's in swing time. da-DSSH da-DSSH da-DSSH. you must have a couple of other ornery tracks like this (the Sascha Funke track on Kompakt 3 for instance)?
