Without Robert Plant

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 27 October 2008 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

Almost as pathetic as Queen touring and recording without Freddie Mercury.
(That is, I am not sure if his annoying voice is much of a loss, but his creative contribution obviously is)

Geir Hongro, Monday, 27 October 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

oh fuck..why? why? why?

(sorry)

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 27 October 2008 23:00 (seventeen years ago)

God, this is awful news. :(

The Ungrateful Dead (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 27 October 2008 23:06 (seventeen years ago)

They should call up Terry Reid for a reunion of the intended "New Yardbirds."

The Wild Shirtless Lyrics of Mark Farner (C. Grisso/McCain), Monday, 27 October 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

To be honest, could I care less? Well, no. But seeing as there will be a few that do.. Um, Boo.

It'll be a case of Get new singer, go out under a name that's not Led Zeppelin, and the story dies.

Mark G, Monday, 27 October 2008 23:08 (seventeen years ago)

They need to tour with Queen as one big band and Paul Rodgers can sing all the leads. Then they can encore with "Radioactive".

Mark, Monday, 27 October 2008 23:22 (seventeen years ago)

They should accept this will suck anyway and call David Coverdale

Shin Oliva Suzuki, Monday, 27 October 2008 23:39 (seventeen years ago)

It's like when fucking Van Halen got Sammy Hagar isn't it? Not that I really give a shit about Van Halen, but it reminds me of that.

^^ha! that's the ONLY thing that could make me be excited for this, good call!

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 27 October 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

Bring Freddie Mercury back from the dead and let HIM sing with Led Zep. Buy me a ticket to that gig in heaven, thanks.

The Ungrateful Dead (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 27 October 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

lol they should get jon anderson now that he was dumped by yes to make it as twee as possible

velko, Monday, 27 October 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

I just realized that I never got around to tracking down the XYZ (eX Yes & Zeppelin) sessions from 1981.

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 00:03 (seventeen years ago)

I've got my fingers crossed for Adrian Belew. (98% kidding)

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

oh fuck..why? why? why? - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

An abomination. Perhaps these really are the end times we're living in.

Pillbox, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

Zeppelin was never any good to begin with.

What's the big deal?

ilxor, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 01:16 (seventeen years ago)

Hahaha, Stephen can't decide whether this is good news or bad!

Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 01:29 (seventeen years ago)

I'll vote for Yes + Led Zep sessions. Keep me in mind, Chris, if you find them.

The Ungrateful Dead (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 01:32 (seventeen years ago)

Would anyone here have gone to the last gig, even for free?

paulhw, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 01:37 (seventeen years ago)

No way this actually happens.

Naive Teen Idol, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 02:00 (seventeen years ago)

"It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert."

Given that Plant's voice is of equal or more importance to Zep than Page's guitar-playing, Bonham's drumming and most definitely more important than Jones's bass/keyboard work, I'd say YES there's no point in just finding another Robert. Without Robert, you do NOT do this.

They should just call themselves PBJ and do a lame album with a revolving door of guest singers if they want to get it out of their systems.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

Why don't they just get together with PJ Proby again and complete the cycle...

Jack Battery-Pack, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 07:02 (seventeen years ago)

No-one's going to think this is Led Zep, nothing to worry about here. Anyway, hats off again to (Robert) Plant for being the only one who knows what makes them special.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 07:19 (seventeen years ago)

I'll vote for Yes + Led Zep sessions. Keep me in mind, Chris, if you find them.

Billy Dods, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 07:46 (seventeen years ago)

^ that, the soundtrack to every ad ever, and Sheikhs' birthday parties for the last thirty years, if Page had had his way

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 07:51 (seventeen years ago)

What the hell is going on in that photo?

Capitaine Jay Vee, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 08:26 (seventeen years ago)

so annoyed I will probably never get to see Page Plant and Jones actually play together

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)

Please tell me this is just a bad joke.

Brad C., Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know what alternative reality you guys have been living in, but Plant not singing is the only way this could be awesome.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

the only way this could be awesome is if they got Zombie John Bonham to play

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

^^

They should get Axl Rose, although I doubt he could hit the notes these days either.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

Geddy Lee!

Ioannis, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe they'll film the auditions and make it all a reality show.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:19 (seventeen years ago)

well, robert plant's voice is at least years ten years gone but i bet they could still rock and roll. this is a bit of a heartbreaker

6335, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:35 (seventeen years ago)

I hope you won't take this personally, but I Suggest Banned you for that.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)

6335, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

Ioannis, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

D'yer Maker?

The Wild Shirtless Lyrics of Mark Farner (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

What's Ann Wilson doing these days?

Otherwise, they should just play Zooma and the Death Wish II soundtrack

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

Who's backing Mark E Smith nowadays? Could be a two-fer!

There is no Grodd but Mallah and Congorilla is His Prophet. (Oilyrags), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 19:19 (seventeen years ago)

LMFAO

Bimble, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)

Beth Ditto should be the singer.

If for any reason...

BETH ZEPPELIN

(sorry Ned)

Ragnar's Savoury Pockets (If You Whiz) (Mackro Mackro), Thursday, 30 October 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

Dear me.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 30 October 2008 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

Ned you could apply.

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 30 October 2008 21:59 (seventeen years ago)

I'm still waiting for Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey to snatch up the killer Paul & Ringo rhythm section that is sadly without work.

The Whootles would have the greatest back catalog ever.
