Peter Gabriel by a million trillion miles

Ich Ber ein Binliner (Tom D.), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:37 (seventeen years ago)

Where's Damon Albarn though?

Ich Ber ein Binliner (Tom D.), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:38 (seventeen years ago)

Musically, it's Peter Gabriel all the way here. And he did a pretty respectable fight against apartheid too, plus he has used third world music in a constructive way to improve his own music. So my vote goes there. :)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:38 (seventeen years ago)

Damon Albarn has mainly done music with people with a non Western background, hasn't he? I mean, I didn't include Paul Simon or David Byrne either.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:39 (seventeen years ago)

So, we voting for the worst? Best? most risible?

What?

Mark G, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:40 (seventeen years ago)

I'd go with Gabriel, just for the Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack, really. But otherwise... ugh. To all of them.

post-apocalyptic time jazz (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 10:48 (seventeen years ago)

OK, so: Best...

Hmm, what records did they do that I liked?

Bono: 50% of their singles I 'don't mind', albums I have avoided..
PG: "Games without Frontiers" was a laff, and it was years until I found that the high pitched "Jeuxxx! sans FrONtiers.." wasn't sung by him but Kate Bush.
Sting: The first two Police albums were OK.
BG: A bunch of singles..

Blimey, Bono?

I abstain.

So, we voting for the worst? Best? most risible?

Best obv. (I don't think any of them deserve to be called "worst", at least not on a humanitarian/political level).

Whether it's their political work or their music is kind of up to you, I guess...

PG is the only one who doesn't deserve to die painfully.

The girl on the right is fondling her own.

I wonder what song Bono is singing

Ich Ber ein Binliner (Tom D.), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 12:38 (seventeen years ago)

Gabriel the others are suchwankers. Plus his name is quite holy sounding.

VeronaInTheClub, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

Gabriel easy. Great album covers.

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 13:39 (seventeen years ago)

I wonder what song Bono is singing

"I need you to elevate me here/At the corner of your lips/As the orbit of your hips/Eclipse/You elevate my soul/I've got no self control..."

ilxor, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 01:14 (seventeen years ago)

so this is going to be a landslide?

Kevin Keller, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 01:44 (seventeen years ago)

The only one I own any records by is Bono, but I think he's a cunt. I own records on Gabriel's label, so he's getting my vote.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 10:14 (seventeen years ago)

actually this is the only poll result that i have zero problems with in the history of ILM, that's exactly how the rankings should be

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 7 November 2008 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

early police were an awesome singles band, but apart from that sting is dire, obvs.

stone cold all time hall of fame classics (internet person), Friday, 7 November 2008 01:01 (seventeen years ago)

Late Police were an awesome albums band. And even the three first Sting solo albums were indeed quite good.

After that.......

Geir Hongro, Friday, 7 November 2008 01:03 (seventeen years ago)

my faith in the world has been restored

Kevin Keller, Friday, 7 November 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)
