Beta Band. It's not too beautiful...sort of a lazier version of the same.

didn't the Beta Band sample Steve Miller ("Jungle Love") for theirs?

lol the beta band definitely did not originate this

Not sure where it originates from and pretty sure it's not original but...it was on that Beta Band track last time I listened.

Is this anything like the lazer sounds in Pet Shop Boys' "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)"?

anything like the laser sounds in Scientist dubs from the late 70s/early 80s?

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 October 2008 23:09 (seventeen years ago)

i started a thread about that sound

Cittaslow Mazza (blueski), Saturday, 1 November 2008 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

are we talking about the 808 hi-que? the sound in the background at at the beginning of Kraftwerk's Tour de France?

(I know, they didn't use the 808, but the 808 emulated that sound and most who use that sound get it from the 808 or an 808 emulator)

anyone feel like posting a .wav so I have some idea what the hell y'alls' talking about?

Joseph McCombs, Saturday, 1 November 2008 07:10 (seventeen years ago)

upon thinking about the context in which i heard this (dude sequencing in real time on a laptop), i figure it's a chewy sounding vst synth with the lfo controlled to osc. n zap it, to then be deployed whenever its right to. That'd be the modern way.
Can somebody herein link the thread blueski started about lazer sounds in scientist dubs? my knowledge of dub is limited, as are my search skills.
also, wu tangs 'radioactive' is an excellent shout.
