GSTQ Re-released May 29th. Will it go to number one *this time*? I really hope so.

Sad old punk abuse welcomed.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well morally it did of course go to number one really back in '77 (but only listed as #1 in the NME chart, which swiftly became my chart of choice). Actually Leftfield (Barnes) haven't (hasn't) done too bad a job of remixing this.

Probably will be kept out this time by some grotesque last minute collaboration between Will Young, Lulu and Enrique Iglesias: "Queen Of My Heart" cover version no doubt.

the REAL fans won't be buying it, dr c

real fans = sex pistols ringtones?

geeta, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(they exist apparently)

geeta, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That remix is fucking week - even EMF/ Jesus Jones would have rejected it ten years ago.

I was expecting something sublime ala Open Up, but this remix is awful.

DJ Martian, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jesus Jones on TOTP2 last night. Jesus! How did anyone ever take them seriously?

Performing their #7 smash hit "International Bright Young Thing."

Yeah, like, we wanna combine hip hop an' Tackhead beats with Sonic Youth guitar reconstruction and classic sixties melodies AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Saw 'em twice in 1991 and they were great both times. I note they are touring America again next month, but I think I'll let that slip by.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Leftfield remix is damn awful, it's just ... insipid.

Anna, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has it been *banned* again? My local Woolies didn't have it in their top 40 this week. Not that anyone gives a shit anymore but I didn't think they'd be so sensitive 25 years on.

Billy Dods, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well i bought so solid crew's FUCK IT in woolies, so standards are certainly slipping

mark s, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Billy - Woolies would be displaying last weeks Top 40, and GSTQ wasn't released until this Monday. What charts do Woolies use anyway? When I bought Sugababes it had them at no.3, when they were at no.1 in the 'official' Top 40.

I tried to get the midweek placing of GSTQ, but couldn't find it on the web.

Dr. C, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

woolies charts = chart of sales in woolies?

mark s, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not convinced you're right Dr C, they had Will Young at 1 and Ant & Dec at 2, (both released on Monday I think.

Billy Dods, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chart of sales in woolies :

1. Sherbert Lemons, family pack.

2. Boys socks, six pack.

3. Plant pots - set of 5 assorted sizes.

4. Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen

5. Baking trays - set of 3.

My local Woolies is grate - it sells booze.

Dr. C, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Woolies chart = ENTIRELY FABRICATED hurrah. And it has new releases in their predicted positions instead of having a separate rack.

Graham, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Open Up is better than the original anyway and bear in mind the Sex Pistols Never Mind The Bollocks is something I bought recently. I do like it though.

Ronan, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Plus it's selling "The Eminem Show" for £9.99.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I see the reissue got to the dizzy heights of #15.
