Polling massively popular soundtrack albums with largely new material on them

One act soundtracks like "A Hard Day's Night", "Superfly" and "Purple Rain" don't count ("Superfly" arguably didn't sell enough to fit in either), but I have chosen to include soundtracks dominated by one or two different acts.

Also left out "The Harder They Come" and "Dirty Dancing" because I felt they contained too many oldies, although I am aware there was quite a dose of original material too.

The ELO half means my vote goes to "Xanadu", but "Footloose" is great, and about half of "Saturday Night Fever" is too. And props to "Beverly Hills Cop" for containing "Axel F" and "Neutron Dance" although the complete album becomes too patchy.

Pump Up the Volume was the soundtrack album with the biggest impact in my life. It's pretty terrible, though.

She walks in i'm suddenly a hero
I'm taken in my hopes begin to rise
Look at me can't you tell i'd be so
Thrilled to see the message in your eyes
You make it seem i'm so close to my dream
And then suddenly it's all there

Chorus
Suddenly the wheels are in motion
And i i'm ready to sail any ocean
Suddenly i don't need the answers
Cos i i'm ready to take all my chances with you

How can i feel you're all that matters
I'd rely on anything you say
I'll take care that no illusions shatter
If you dare to say what you should say
You make it seem i'm so close to my dream
And then suddenly it's all there

Chorus

Why do i feel so alive when you're near
There's no way any hurt can get thru'
Longing to spend every moment of the day with you

I played both that song AND "Magic" at my wedding, oh yeah!

Altho how possibly superseller can Xanadu be if it took me two years to find the damn thing (even by download)?

It sold by the bucketload back then, but doesn't quite compete with "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease" in back catalogue sales.

You may have trouble finding "Beverly Hills Cop" these days too, but it was still huge back then.

Oh no, that is at every garage sale ever.

I kept trying to trade my copy for goods from other people, and I think I would have had better luck trying to trade one sock with a hole in it.

footloose obviously

The "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack changed the history of popular culture, so that's my vote. For purely sentimental reasons, I'd have chosen "Flashdance" though.

Isn't Primal scream's contribution the only significant new material on Trainspotting?

Sleeper's Blondie cover too, maybe the odd other one. Born Slippy was old material but non-LP so became a hit off this.
