I have often wondered about this so-called metal project of new zealander campbell kneale. Is BBA worth checking or is it more of ye olde drone?

It's quite good but I get leery of this metal for people who don't like metal stufff
― Niles Caulder, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 08:38 (sixteen years ago)
it is drone, to be sure, but in a doomy vein. 's ok.

he likes metal tho btw

Yeah he does! And he's a nice guy, but his FANS don't necessarily like metal... buy Reign in Blood first.

zackly. it's drone for people who like metal rather than metal for people who don't.

Yeah

So no riffs then. is it anything like final? I think I read that the name is from a godflesh song or one of those bands.

& which title should i get first?
― Scrimtar, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 09:11 (sixteen years ago)
First one

What I've got has its moments - I like the rawness of it, especially set against where Sunn0))) and Earth have been going the last few years, but he seems to be searching in the dark for a kiler riff without much success sometimes

new one is ill!
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 14:08 (sixteen years ago)
Big Boned Angel would be a better band name...

OTM!
Saw them at Instal in Glasgow, and it was fun, particularly seeing them doing dry-ice doom theatrics in such an academic context, but left me with no particular inclination to buy the records.

This is what i have wondered about because all the covers and titles look and sound quite metal but i dont really want to fork out for something that is just mediocre doom. Can they actually play?

That link is suppose be a picture of campbell kneale wearing a venom shirt

They can play, and what's more, they can improvise. I'd say they know their metal.
What they do definitely fits somewhere out there in the darkness where Earth & Sunn0))) dwell. If that's your thing, give them a shot
