So many great songs on this.

Dead Kennedys, Slits, Elvis Costello, Ruts,Pop Group, Gang of Four...

If the Gang of Four track had been Armalite Rifle then I might have gone for that but, I have to go for The Only ones.

the strangest thing happened while putting together this poll. Amazon has taken off the track listing for this box set, looked at the Nuggets boxes and they are gone as well. why would they do that, aren't they trying to sell these things without people having to look elsewhere to see what songs are included?

will vote when i listen to this CD in a few days.

agree - so many good tracks - slits by a nose.

Mark G, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 07:39 (seventeen years ago)

Mark G, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 07:39 (seventeen years ago)

Holy shit, this really is a motherfucker to choose from. Sigh.

The Ungrateful Dead (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 07:46 (seventeen years ago)

Tough.

Another Girl, Another Planet got my vote.

Dr.C, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 10:46 (seventeen years ago)

"Peaches" without a doubt.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 14:16 (seventeen years ago)

Adult Books with no hesitation. It's one of the few X songs I wholly enjoy.

Kublakhan61, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

As with all things, I refuse to vote in this thread.
"Walking on the beaches, looking at the PEACHES!!" Great

VeronaInTheClub, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)

Lots of great ones here.

Adult Books

Gone with The Slits on this one, it's their finest moment

Dr X O'Skeleton, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

Into The Valley. Ahoy! Ahoy!

Soukesian, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

the only one I bought at the time - 'Peaches' (and was that really a reference to a piece of swimwear?)

trgz, Thursday, 6 November 2008 08:52 (seventeen years ago)

"Boys Don't Cry". With "Radio Radio" and "Peaces" the strongest contenders.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 6 November 2008 12:44 (seventeen years ago)

still have yet to hear this, right now it is "Hanging on the Telephone" but feel that will change.

Bee OK, Friday, 7 November 2008 03:43 (seventeen years ago)

I think is a little weaker than some of the other discs in the set, but still with enough good tracks to make it a tough choice. Probably would go for "California Uber Alles" or maybe "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory".

o. nate, Friday, 7 November 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)

"Alternative Ulster" has the clarity and power of a diamond bullet compared to everything else on this particular disc.

I might have gone with "Adult Books" if they were using the version that had been on Wild Gift, but the 7" version is noticeably weaker.

"Love Like Anthrax" would be my second, and the primary reason would be that it sounded, like, ten years ahead of everything else--including the SLF.

rastronomicals, Friday, 7 November 2008 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

wow this is pretty excellent

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Friday, 7 November 2008 18:54 (seventeen years ago)

"California Über Alles" gets my vote, but yeah, this is a fantastic box set.

Euler, Friday, 7 November 2008 19:26 (seventeen years ago)

Regarding Adult Books 7" version - I've always enjoyed it more because it sounds even more desperate then usual for X. The Wild Gift version sounds too polished after hearing the 7"...

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 9 November 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

Bee OK, Sunday, 9 November 2008 03:23 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Monday, 10 November 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

I voted for "Anglepoise" because I thought "Psycho Killer" would get enough votes without me.
