Welcome proof that there still are mysteries to British taste

Dr. C, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes a good song... for me to poop on!

Tracer Hand, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dr.C is clearly in a mentalist state today. Still, I can't talk, I have theaudience LP!

Murder on the dancefloor is marvellous, Joyce Grenfell daintily stomping on her dance handbag. One simply can't wait for the duet with Neil Tennant.

I've had some really impure thoughts about Ms. Bextor.

I too need to now desperately if its good or not, while on the mall i passed through the cd and thought imediately of murder on the dancefloor i picked up the cd, remembering that everything i heard about it said it sucked. Ive got that feeling this is british pop, there are 100 copies in the whole country, if i dont buy now ill never have murder on the dancefloor on cd. The cover was wonderful but i managed to move away... that cd is still haunting me...

Chupa-Cabras, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom Ewing started a thread about her when I was in his house. It was c August 2001 I guess. And then he regretted starting it. Have a look at it!

I like 'A Pessimist Is Etc Etc

Sparkle is great, don't know about the rest of the album.

Or if you just want Murder On The Dancefloor, buy Girls Say...

Graham, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Spiller track was great but she spoiled it with her wooden performances on tv. Since then she's got better and the two singles I've heard have been pretty good. I particularly like the circular aspect to 'Murder On The Dancefloor' - you can't really work out which is the chorus or the verse, all the sections are equally hooky.

David, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham, do u mean Girls Talk for the songs i can recognise on the track list is wonderful, but the chances of me going to a record store and buying it are as much of a UK Garage(though i already saw Artful Dodger) comp or Kid 606 last album

Chupa-Cabras, Saturday, 25 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes a good song... for me to poop on!

Oh, yes, very mature, especially coming from someone who willingly listened to the Georgia Satellites last time I saw him. In fact, insisted on listening to the Georgia Satellites.

ha ha! tracer is outed!

gareth, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Still k-hornXOR.

Dr. C, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

three weeks pass...
Chupa-Cabras: That's the same tracklisting, but it's definitely called "Girls Say" here.

I've been given (well more like received) a copy of the new repackaged version (I have no idea how this particular person had it before its official release, but anyway), and I really like it. It's all built around the same synth noises and strings as the singles (which is actually really cool), although there's a lot of variety in styles between songs. If you can put up with a whole album of her posh meant-to-be-sassy lyrics, you'll enjoy it.

(This is the most amateurish record review ever, but I seem to be the first person here that's heard the actual record)

Liked Groovejet, disliked the other singles especially Murder on the Dancefloor.

Saw the new one on Graham Norton a few weeks ago where he claimed it was brilliant, I thought it was shite at the time.

HOWEVER, the bastard is now stuck in my head, so it can't be that bad
