Excellent article, Tom. Connections: my wife was friendly with the
woman who was Boyzone's main backing vocalists for ages. She made a
fortune from the work - and despised them all as arseholes. Because
of this connection, I sat through a whole concert video. I was
astonished how inept they were, and how weak their voices were. There
was a Grease routine, where the group took the male parts and this
woman took the female parts. She dominated the five of them without
trying - you could only feel sympathy.
I think Ronan partakes more of the businessman than the musician. I
find it impossible to believe that he cares about music, or is having
fun making it, or anything like that, merely that he takes pride in
his success.
