It would have been funnier if Ronan had written it though: Ronan on Ronan.

You're very on the money. The problem with him now is that he feels making serious music is something separate from having fun. He's one of the people I despise the most in the music industry, hearing him moan about pop idol these days really takes the cake. Next time I see him around I promise I'll shout abuse at him or else "www.freakytrigger.co.uk/ronan.htm you prick".

I thought it was by Ronan at first then I thought it was about Ronan then I was confused about why you called him unlovely, that wasn't nice at all

Excellent article, Tom. Connections: my wife was friendly with the woman who was Boyzone's main backing vocalists for ages. She made a fortune from the work - and despised them all as arseholes. Because of this connection, I sat through a whole concert video. I was astonished how inept they were, and how weak their voices were. There was a Grease routine, where the group took the male parts and this woman took the female parts. She dominated the five of them without trying - you could only feel sympathy.

I think Ronan partakes more of the businessman than the musician. I find it impossible to believe that he cares about music, or is having fun making it, or anything like that, merely that he takes pride in his success.

i presume this is the ronan that our ronan speaks of when he says there's a famous pop person he shares a name with. never heard of him.

Martin's post presumably explains why, after Boyzone had split up, Keith Duffy & Shane Lynch released a cover of Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True" (which reached the dizzy heights of Number 36). I always suspected that this was an industry injoke, and that it was commonly known that Keith and Shane *in particular* contributed little more to their records than Rob and Fab did to theirs.
