i'm voting for kids because the synth line is so good but electric feel is probably the best arrangement esp. the bass

"Weekend Wars" I now associate with advertising-ready-indie-music (as this is how it has actually been used here). I love the other three fairly equally but will probably go for "Kids".

"electric feel" reminds me of something from the first two PRINCE albums, but with more production. I love when it comes on in the car.

Time to Pretend. Honest, ironic, sad and epic. It's the song that defines the way we sometimes live these days.

I do like the particular honesty/irony inflection that "Time To Pretend" captures I'm leary of the apocalyptic nature of endorsements such as the above, which I see all the time and strike me as typical music crit overreach.

That said something about the metaphysical resignation of "We'll marry more models/everything must run its course" is fantastic.

this is such a great album, right now it's my favorite debut for 2008. have to go with "Electric Feel" but i like "Kids" just as much...

I thought this came out late 2007. This band has grown on me. I hardly gave them a second thought when I first heard a few random songs off of the album. Perhaps I just heard the lesser ones, maybe.

leak was 2007 but it came out in 2008, so many people think it was last year but came out in January of this year.

electric feel is the type of song prince would have written for the family (screams of passion) or shiela e or someone in the mid 80s.

I'm with Kate, except I'm more in the they're awful camp than neutral. The new Killers at any rate.
