vs "metanoia"

nelson algreen (get bent), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

i'm voting for kids because the synth line is so good but electric feel is probably the best arrangement esp. the bass

myspace password secretary (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i like all these but i've rly been loving "electric feel" lately

nelson algreen (get bent), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 20:43 (seventeen years ago)

Weekend Wars. I like these guys.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)

SUICIDE opened for mgmt. wtf

surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 21:15 (seventeen years ago)

"Weekend Wars" I now associate with advertising-ready-indie-music (as this is how it has actually been used here). I love the other three fairly equally but will probably go for "Kids".

Tim F, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

i don't even know what "electric feel" reminds me of

i wanna say a really slowed down daft punk or something because the song really reminds me of that type of open-space euphoria

myspace password secretary (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:13 (seventeen years ago)

"electric feel" reminds me of something from the first two PRINCE albums, but with more production. I love when it comes on in the car.

nicky lo-fi, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:23 (seventeen years ago)

if Electric Feel were better than Kids, it wouldn't be first

gabbneb, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:28 (seventeen years ago)

Time to Pretend. Honest, ironic, sad and epic. It's the song that defines the way we sometimes live these days.

Vision, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)

I do like the particular honesty/irony inflection that "Time To Pretend" captures I'm leary of the apocalyptic nature of endorsements such as the above, which I see all the time and strike me as typical music crit overreach.

That said something about the metaphysical resignation of "We'll marry more models/everything must run its course" is fantastic.

"honest"?

gabbneb, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Put a "while" at the beginning of my last post.

Tim F, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:28 (seventeen years ago)

This is one of those bands that I feel like... I really *should* love them... but I just don't.

FAIL.

this is such a great album, right now it's my favorite debut for 2008. have to go with "Electric Feel" but i like "Kids" just as much...

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 November 2008 02:18 (seventeen years ago)

I thought this came out late 2007. This band has grown on me. I hardly gave them a second thought when I first heard a few random songs off of the album. Perhaps I just heard the lesser ones, maybe.

Cunga, Saturday, 15 November 2008 03:04 (seventeen years ago)

leak was 2007 but it came out in 2008, so many people think it was last year but came out in January of this year.

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 November 2008 03:07 (seventeen years ago)

(psst... Time to Pretend is the answer guys.)

Kerm, Saturday, 15 November 2008 03:28 (seventeen years ago)

voting weekend wars cus its the only one I haven't heard and I want to imagine is not as shit as everything else.

Moka, Saturday, 15 November 2008 08:22 (seventeen years ago)

'electric feel' = Scissor Sisters going through a phase of progressive rock pretention.

electric feel is the type of song prince would have written for the family (screams of passion) or shiela e or someone in the mid 80s.

titchy (titchyschneiderMk2), Saturday, 3 January 2009 11:04 (seventeen years ago)

I'm with Kate, except I'm more in the they're awful camp than neutral. The new Killers at any rate.

fandango, Saturday, 3 January 2009 15:05 (seventeen years ago)

does anyone else have trouble distinguishing "electric feel" from the chorus of "burning up" or is that just me

unclejam79, Saturday, 3 January 2009 16:06 (seventeen years ago)

The new Killers at any rate.

Sorry, but you're giving them too much credit...

ilxor, Saturday, 3 January 2009 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

Kate, what do you think of the new, Sonic Boom-produced album?

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 20:34 (sixteen years ago)

“Electric Feel” is kind of hard to count, but it seems to be really only 12/8 or 6/8.
